Dharmendrasinh Jadeja picked up seven wickets in the second innings to finish with 12 for the match as Rajasthan were bundled out for a paltry 87. This result keeps the hosts on 16 points while catapulting Saurashtra to 22, just one behind table-toppers Haryana although Vidarbha are expected to move to second by the time this round of games concludes.

Victory looks imminent for Saurashtra with the defending champions snagging six wickets to leave Rajasthan in disarray by Lunch on Day 4. This was after Arpit Vasavada's unbeaten 74 and quick cameos from Prerak Mankad (14 off 15) and Chirag Jani (19* off 8) set up a declaration, even as Sheldon Jackson fell one short of a half-century. Thereafter, the spin duo of Dharmendrasinh Jadeja and Yuvrajsinh Dodiya took over to wreak havoc even as opener Sumit Godara (25*) has paid witness to an alarming collapse around him.

Veterans Arpit Vasavada (53*) and Sheldon Jackson (48*) drove the initiative forward for Saurashtra to put them in a solid position by the end of Day 3 in Jaipur. Rajasthan failed to breach the defenses of the two batters and with Saurashtra's lead now standing at 245, they might look to go all out in attack on the third morning to swell it well past 300 quickly enough and declare the innings to unleash the bowlers. It's a see-saw battle at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium although Rajasthan's bowlers have kept the hosts in the hunt with regular wickets. Ajay Kookna nabbed the big fish by trapping Cheteshwar Pujara in front for 25, leaving the door open for Rajasthan to storm back and perhaps go on to win this contest. Saurashtra must look to avoid yet another collapse and their hopes to that end remain pinned on Arpit Vasavada (10*) and Sheldon Jackson (11*).

Ajay Kookna backed up his five-fer with a 44-run knock at number 9 but it wasn't enough for Rajasthan to avoid conceding the first innings lead. Dharmendrasinh Jadeja snared five wickets as Saurashtra pocketed a pivotal lead of 71 runs before their openers saw through a mini passage of play prior to Lunch. Can Saurashtra bat their way to a point where they cannot lose this contest?

Deepak Hooda (36) and Kunal Singh Rathore (33) forged a partnership of 66 runs for the fourth wicket but couldn't convert their starts, leading to another mini-collapse as Rajasthan ended the day six wickets down. Dharmendrasinh Jadeja bagged three wickets as did Yuvrajsinh Dodiya and with first innings parity still 169 runs away, Rajasthan have a mountainous task on hand in order to bail themselves out of the hole they've dug for themselves.

It was tough going for Rajasthan's batters in the second session as they lost three wickets including that of the well-set Mahipal Lomror for 30. Jaydev Unadkat was incredibly miserly while Yuvrajsinh Dodiya bagged a couple of wickets for Saurashtra. Rajasthan's hopes of getting close to Saurashtra's first innings total now rests on the shoulders of skipper Deepak Hooda (14*) and Kunal Singh Rathore (9*).

Batting collapses have never been far away for Saurashtra this season and it was a similar story that unfolded on the second morning in Jaipur. While Sheldon Jackson (116) raised a century, the rest fell like a pack of cards with Aniket Choudhary's fiery spell reducing the defending champions to 249/7 within no time. It's on the bowlers again as the visitors look to make Rajasthan's life with the bat a challenging one.

A 62nd first-class hundred by Cheteshwar Pujara headlined a hard-fought but fruitful day for Saurashtra in Jaipur. The veteran scored 110 before he was dismissed right at the stroke of Stumps as his partnership with Sheldon Jackson (78*) was brought to a halt after the duo put up 168 runs together. Prerak Mankad and Chirag Jani are yet to bat and they will be tasked with powering Saurashtra's total to a big one on the second day.

A smooth session for Saurashtra with the defending champions not losing a wicket while building their first innings total steadily. It couldn't have come as a bigger welcome sign considering the numerous collapses they have suffered so far in the tournament. Cheteshwar Pujara (84*) looks set for another hundred while Sheldon Jackson (41*) is giving him good company. It remains to be seen now if Rajasthan's bowlers, led by left-arm spinner Manav Suthar, can mount a fightback.
