Mahipal Lomror

Born on November 16, 1999, in Nagaur, Rajasthan, Mahipal Krishan Lomror is an attacking left-handed batter who bats in the middle and lower-middle order.

Mahipal Lomror Domestic Career

Mahipal Lomror made his first-class debut for Rajasthan in the 2016–17 Ranji Trophy on 6 October 2016 after playing in the World Cup. He made his Twenty20 debut for Rajasthan in the 2016–17 Inter-State Twenty-20 Tournament on 30 January 2017. He made his List A debut for Rajasthan in the 2016–17 Vijay Hazare Trophy on 25 February 2017. Perhaps his best performance came in the 2017–18 Ranji Trophy where he was the joint-leading wicket-taker for Rajasthan with 13 dismissals in six matches. In August 2019, he was named in the India Red team's squad for the 2019–20 Duleep Trophy.

Mahipal Lomror IPL Career

Two months after his exploits in the U19 Cricket World Cup, Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) snaffled Mahipal Lomror for INR 10 lakhs in the 2016 IPL auction. He was picked up by the Rajasthan Royals at the 2018 auctions for INR 20 lakhs and also featured in a couple of games that season without really getting ample scope to showcase either of his skills. While he featured only in only two games in IPL 2019, Rajasthan Royals retained the youngster for the IPL 2020 and 2021. He played only a handful of matches in that period and was released by RR ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction.

Lomror was picked by the Royal Challengers Bangalore (now Royal Challengers Bengaluru) in the IPL 2022 mega auction for INR 95 lakhs. Compared to his previous stints, Lomror had better game time at RCB, playing 7 matches in 2022 and 12 matches in 2023. During this period, he scored few cameos and vital runs down the order and also scored his maiden IPL fifty against Delhi Capitals at an impressive strike rate of 186.21 in IPL 2023. He played a few good cameos for RCB in IPL 2024.

For a 16-year-old cricketer to feature in the Under-19 at a stage such as the World Cup is no mean feat in itself. But, Mahipal Lomror seemed to enjoy the big stage and was one of India's best performers in the tournament, despite being the second youngest player in the Indian squad.

Lomror was, by far, the best Indian all-rounder as he put in consistent performances with both bat and ball. In five innings that he batted, Lomror scored 133 runs at an average of 33.25 and a strike rate of 100.75. The young talent from Rajasthan also picked up 7 wickets in 6 matches at an impressive average of 18.85 and an economy rate of 3.75.

In the match against New Zealand U-19, the southpaw scored 45 and finished with bowling figures of 5/47. He was the only Indian bowler to achieve a five-wicket haul in the tournament. Lomror's 21-ball 41 in the quarterfinal against Namibia U-19 helped India post a huge total of 349 in 50 overs.
