Commentary

That brings us to the end of our coverage for this encounter. We have a lot of cricketing action lined up for tomorrow. Up until then, it's adios from me (Arya Sekhar Chakraborty) and my fellow commentator Bala. Goodnight!

Akeal Hosein (Player of the Match): First time looking at it I felt it was patchy and I felt it could spin and use my swingers. It's just about trying to make that assessment as quickly as possible and see what is working today. There wasn't much swing so I went back to spin and went with the regular arm balls. The hat trick for me would have been the icing on the cake. It was so close.

Nicholas Pooran (MI Emirates captain): I mean losing the toss was a blessing in disguise for us. We had to access fight as batters. Unfortunately, Fletch got out and then the mix up cost one more wicket. We were right in the game. We knew it was a difficult wicket to bat on but the guys executed the plans brilliantly. In the last two games, Akeal bowled the first over. Nothing tactical, just bowled him. Farooqi coming back and getting a wicket and then Akeal coming back and doing what we did. It's been hard work for us. We had been put under the pump but the players have performed in crucial situations.

Tom Kohler Cadmore (Sharjah Warriors captain): Still fully backing the toss. It was not panic and taking the decision. We came out with this plan but we couldn't quite execute our plans. We learnt from the first game so it was about smashing the pitch. The bowlers bowled nicely and did drag them back and at the halfway stage we felt confident. I don't think there is a whole lot of changes. It's about staying positive and making sure as a team we keep the intent and have the belief in our confidence.

It just kept going from bad to worse right from the outset for the Sharjah Warriors and they could never really recover. Johnson Charles and Martin Guptill came out to open the innings and it was a combination of bad shot selection with some good bowling. Akeal Hosein removed the dangerous Johnson Charles with an arm ball. It came back in sharply to breach the defence and rattled the stumps. Tom Kohler-Cadmore was dismissed for a golden duck as he ended up chipping one from Trent Boult straight back to him. Niroshan Dickwella and Martin Guptill tried to put the pressure back on the Emirates.

Dickwella succeeded for a while and kept smashing boundaries to up the ante. Guptill also joined in the fun and struck a couple of exquisite cut shots which fetched him boundaries. Just when it looked Dickwella was in his rhythm, the re introduction of Trent Boult again worked in the Emirates' favor. From there on it was an absolute procession of sorts. Akeal Hosein turned the match on it's head with three wickets in his 3rd over as the Warriors were all but done.

They couldn't read which way the ball was turning and surrendered pretty meekly in the end. Chris Woakes survived a close call before chopping a back-of-a-length delivery from Dwayne Bravo straight onto his stumps. In the end it was Waqar Salamkheil who finished off proceedings with a couple of wickets in his 7 deliveries as the MI Emirates registered a monumental 106-run victory.

That's the lowest score in the history of ILT20. MI Emirates registers a massive victory by 106 runs and it will be a massive boost to their net run rate. Muhammad Jawadullah swiping at a tossed up wrong un. He didn't pick that, was a wild slog and it was Salamkheil who hits the bullseye as Jawad misses. Nothing went for right and they will be very disappointed with the below par showing.

12.1 Waqar Salamkheil to Muhammad Jawadullah, OUT! That's the end of a sorry innings from Warriors! Tossed up on the stumps. Jawadullah is nowhere near the line of the ball and just swipes across the line only to lose his stumps.
