That's all from us then! We hope you enjoyed our coverage of this Second Betway Test match between South Africa and the West Indies! This is Soumarya Dutta, signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Raghav. See you soon!
Aiden Markram , Player of the Series- It's great to be back in the team again and to top it off with a series win is a really wonderful feeling! Sometimes , when you're close to a milestone you tend to get carried away and the same thing happened with me. I had a chat with Neil McKenzie and it's all a part of the learning curve. Temba has been leading from the front and he has pushed us to play to match winning innings. He showed us the way with his innings as he carried on after getting a hundred and converted it into a match winning knock and luckily for us, the guys are buying into that mode of cricket.
Temba Bavuma, South Africa Captain and player of the match - It's good see the crowd on a Saturday and obviously to see us winning the series must be good for them! I've been in situations when the team needs me to rebuild the innings and luckily for me I was able to contribute this time. Don't really want a lot of those 10 for 2 situations but really happy with my contribution. The guys came in from the first test and we had a couple of changes. They played their roles really well especially Harmer and Kesh. We're looking forward to build a solid team and create a culture where we can make the country proud. It's a shame that we're going to don the whites again in December, but hopefully we will be able to carry on the momentum.
Kraigg Brathwaite (West Indies captain): Looking back, we took 40 wickets, that's a positive. Giving away 100+ in multiple sessions wasn't good on our part. We weren't good enough with the bat, they have a very good attack and scoring away from home has been a problem for us. I would say it's an improvement from Australia, we gotta be good enough with the bat. The next step will be in July against India at home. We need to work on our weaknesses and strengths, especially away from home. We have done it before, against England home and away, against Zimbabwe. We need to do it against the top opposition. Today was extremely disappointing, the way we were dismissed so early within the first few overs.
Innings Summary West Indies 106 all out in 35.1 overs Joshua Da Silva 34(52) | Gerald Coetzee 3/37 Jason Holder 19(19) | Simon Harmer 3/45
Right then, South Africa came into this session with two bowlers down but they only needed two more bowlers to finish off the job as Coetzee and Hamer cleaned up the West Indies tail in just 16 overs. Da Silva and Holder fought for a while as they dealt aggressively with Coetzee and Harmer. They were scoring at more than 6 runs per over at that stage but once Holder was dismissed by Coetzee, the rest of the tail capitulated under pressure and folded up for just 106. Alzarri Joseph smashed a couple of sixes in the end to get them above 100 and managed to save the blushes.
With just three bowlers at their disposal, Bavuma needed of the seamers to step up and it was the youngster Gerald Coetzee who did it in some style! He bowled 8 overs on the trot and troubled the batters with some hostile short pitched stuff. He knocked over both the set batters Holder and Da Silva, before also getting the wicket of Kemar Roach. Simon Harmer was good too, as he kept toiling from one end and bowled 9 overs on the trot. He was a bit unlucky for the majority of the session, but in the end managed to pick up the wicket of Alzarri Joseph and finished off the Test and the game for South Africa.
South Africa can be mighty pleased with this effort! They weren't really convincing in the first innings, but came back strongly in this one to thoroughly outplay in the West Indies, especially in the second innings. Temba Bavuma lead from the front with a Hundred for the ages and the bowlers backed him up really well as they took just 36 overs to get the job done. The only worrying thing for them will be the injury of Keshav Maharaj with the ODI's coming up, but otherwise they can be really proud of having finished off on a high here.
South Africa win by 284 runs and clinch the series 2-0! They finish third in the World Test Championship points table!
36.0
35.1 Simon Harmer to Alzarri Joseph, OUT! South Africa win by 284 runs and win the series 2-0! Harmer tosses it up outside off with some loop. Joseph skips down the track and completely misses the ball. Klaasen dislodges the bails quickly to put an end to the Windies' misery.
Alzarri Joseph st Heinrich Klaasen b Simon Harmer 18 (13b, 1x4, 2x6)
Coetzee has bowled 8 overs on the trot today and has been unbelievable so far! He has been the pick of the bowlers for South Africa so far and has cleaned up the tail.
