Commentary

That brings us to the end of Sportskeeda's coverage for the final T20I. India have crushed Sri Lanka 3-0. We move into the ODI series after a couple of days and the full fledged Indian ODI side will be back in action. Like always it was a pleasure bringing all the live coverage from this encounter. Suryakumar Yadav is the Player of the Series and also the captain of the Indian team, here is what he had to say: I think more than the last over I feel when we were around 30/4 and 48/5 showed the character of the team. 140 was par for the course and I felt we could pull it off. See if you are enjoying scoring 200 220 then you should also enjoy scoring 130 140 which balances things out. The amount of skill and self confidence they have, it makes my job easy. The positivity they have on the ground, the care for each other is unbelievable. The other guys who played the first two matches put their hands up and said you rest us today and give chances to others. I don't want to be the captain I want to be the leader as I said before the series.

Charith Asalanka (Sri Lanka captain): I am really disappointed with our batting line up, especially middle order and late middle order. Very bad shot selection from the batters. The spinners were bowling that time that's why Hasaranga came up the order and we gave him the license to hit the boundaries but it didn't come off. I think especially wrong selection on this kind of pitches. When ball gets older it's hard to score runs so you have to be on point. You can't give excuses as professional cricketers. We have to do more than this. I want to see good batting performance in the ODIs. The top four batters have batted well that's the only plus we have.

Washington Sundar is the Player of the Match! Here's what he has to say: All the work that I did, lot of blessings from god helped it, tried to stay calm and focused on what I needed to do. Very grateful to have gotten opportunity, every game is a blessing that I'm playing for country. We did do some homework against the batters, there's plenty in it for the bowlers, had to hit the right lengths and rest took care of it itself.

Buoy oh buoy, what a match we had and at the end of it, it's India who prevail in a nail biting thriller. Sri Lanka looked like sailing towards the victory target but the third collapse in a row saw them go down in the super over. They bottled a pretty easy run chase as Rinku Singh and Suryakumar Yadav bowled the last two overs to take the game to the super over.

The target of 138 was going to be a tricky one with the ball turning square. The pitch looked dry and India had a realistic chance of making a match of it. Kusal Mendis and Pathum Nissanka started steadily and rotated the strike along besides finding some occasional boundaries. Khaleel Ahmed and Mohammed Siraj bowled two tidy opening overs before Washington Sundar was introduced into the attack.

Washington Sundar bowled brilliantly throughout the match while the other bowlers supported him very well. Ravi Bishnoi didn't quite nail his lengths in the first over but came back strongly with the wicket of Pathum Nissanka. Out came Kusal Perera and Sri Lanka continued the good work and kept rotating the strike.

Perera were the aggressor among the two and struck five boundaries during his knock of 46 off 34 deliveries. Mendis also batted sensibly and didn't really allow India to make a comeback. Things were coasting along smoothly for the Lankans when Ravi Bishnoi trapped Mendis right in front of the stumps.

Sundar came back for his final over and got the wickets of Wanindu Hasaranga and Charith Asalanka on back to back deliveries. Khaleel Ahmed bowled a terrible 18th over conceding five wides which made the equation just 9 required off the last 12 deliveries. What transpired next left everyone bewildered. Rinku Singh and Suryakumar Yadav bowled the last two overs, bagging a couple each and took the game to the final over.

The Sri Lankan lower middle order and the lower order batters just couldn't find the gap and eventually failed to chase it down. Washington Sundar bowled the super over and bagged the wickets of Kusal Perera and Pathum Nissanka to restrict Sri Lanka to just 2. Suryakumar Yadav finished the match off in the first delivery by sweeping a full one down leg through the short fine leg fielder.

Riyan Parag (India): Obviously disappointed, needed to stay till the end. Me and Gill assessed the situation, thought we could reach till the end and accelerate, but great effort to get to 135 plus in the end. Keep it pretty simple, you get carried away with lots of turn, but kept it on the stumps, didn't have to do much and hit the right areas. I've been working on the leg-break, tried it on domestic, few net sessions prior to the series. Expressed it and Surya bhai backed me. We planned it in such a way that, I thought Siraj was going to bowl but Surya came in and did the job for us. We've been ruthless, that's why we've been able to pull this off.

That should seal the deal for India. They have pulled off victory from the jaws of defeat and takes the series 3-0. This has to be a turnaround for the ages. Ever since the stunning comeback in the World Cup final, this team has the mettle of steal and have managed to win from a hopeless situation. Surya taking just one ball to finish it off.

0.1 Maheesh Theekshana to Suryakumar Yadav, FOUR! INDIA PULL OFF A HEIST! SKY needed just one ball to wrap things up. India have come from nowhere to snatch from the jaws of defeat and cleansweep Sri Lanka in the T20I series here. Theekshana erring on line, spraying it down the leg-side. SKY reaches and sweeps it past the man at short fine-leg who let's it through and it finds the ropes.
