Commentary

So that will be all from a sunny evening in Harare! India go 2-1 in the series with the pressure on Zimbabwe now to come back and take the series to a decider. But, this was a more competitive game than expected, after the kind of commanding performance from the visitors in the last match. So, we can expect a cracker of a contest on Saturday in the fourth game now! This is the pair of Arya and Bidipto taking your leave. Keep following Sportskeeda!

Shubman Gill (India captain): We were pretty good with the start in both innings and that worked well for us. We were looking for a score in excess of 180 actually, but during the middle phase it got just a bit difficult to time the ball properly. But again, as the ball got older, it got better to hit through the line. Everyone is contributing, all the players are churning out their performances. As a captain, I can't ask for more with two more games to come!

Washington Sundar (Player of the Match, 3/15 in 4 overs): It feels amazing! Every time I get to play for my country, it is special. So, to perform like this is just great! I think this was the best wicket. There was something in it for the bowlers in the last two matches, but this was more challenging for me. I hope my work keeps getting better as we go along.

Sikandar Raza (Zimbabwe captain): I think it's the fielding that went wrong today. We gave away 20 extra runs in the field, that proved to be the difference. We still have problems in the top with the bat, but I have faith in the batters, I'm sure they will come good. We've tried 15 different partners in the opening position in this format, there is a lot of cricket going on in the country, so, as much as we back the players, they have to back themselves. Anyway, we have to try and get the best out of out batters giving them the chances they need. Blessing Muzarabani has been highly impressive for us, for a long time. Hope he continues in this fashion!

Avesh Khan: I am really pleased but I always try to improve and keep bowling well for my team. Picking wickets is my main aim. I always try to take my captain's word. My attitude is always to take wickets. Shubman is a bowler's captain. He allows you to set your field and comes in only if my plan is not falling into place. It was an exceptional catch from Bishnoi. He is a very good fielder. He is a very hard working guy and keeps doing the hard yards.

Had Zimbabwe not dropped their catches and fielded better, it could have been a different story but because they lost their first five wickets cheaply, they could not quite make the kind of recovery required to win this match from there.

It was a top effort from Dion Myers, Clive Madande and Wellington Masakadza to try and make a case out of a hopeless situation almost, but India, with their frontline bowling, was just too good!

Washington Sundar and Khaleel Ahmed were way superior! Both bowled 4 overs and gave away only 15 runs each, taking 4 wickets between them. This kind of killed it for Zimbabwe.

But the bowling from Abhishek Sharma and Shivam Dube will be concerning from India's point of view. Both bowled 2 overs each and gave away as many as 50 runs, without picking up a wicket. That phase of play gave the hosts a glimmer of hope.

Fielding was the difference between the sides! No doubt about that. India held on their catches, with Ravi Bishnoi's catch standing out, at backward point. And, the ground fielding too was pretty safe from the visitors.

So with this win, India go a step closer towards taking the series. With two more games to play, the pressure is now on Zimbabwe to respond with a victory to Saturday to take the series to Sunday, against a confident Indian side!
