Glorious conditions to play the game of cricket. Nice firm covering of grass on that good length, you can expect that as it's winter and the surface doesn't dry up all that much. Gill might be expecting something in it for the bowlers, it won't change much throughout the course of the 40 overs. 150 is the average first innings score on this track in the last ten or fifteen T20I's but I don't think it'll be enough today.

Commentary

Well, India have been given a massive reality check! There is absolutely no doubt about that. Zimbabwe bowled and fielded incredibly and it's no surprise that they were able to get this victory after such a brilliant start to the innings. However, both teams will be disappointed with how they batted. We come back again tomorrow for the second match at the Harare Sports Club, same time, to see how things unfold. Will Zimbabwe take a 2-0 lead and put a lot of pressure on the visitors or will India come back to square the series and avenge this loss? We'll find out for sure! Sikandar Raza (Player of the Match, Zimbabwe captain): Feel really happy with this win but we're not going to take the celebrations too far. The world champions are going to come back like world champions, so we have to take it one at a time. As long as we go out there and give it a tough fight, give the crowd what they deserve, I'm happy. The fans were there to lift us up with their energy and we did not let them down today. Hope to keep this going!

Shubman Gill (India captain): We bowled well, we were rusty on the field and have let ourselves down. Take your time, enjoy your time, not much pressure and wasn't the way it panned out there. Half-way down the stage, we lost five wickets, if I had stayed till the end, may be we were in with a chance and disappointed with how things panned after I got out. There was a bit of hope for us, when you were chasing 115 and you want number 10 batter to do it, shows something is wrong.

Clive Madande: Just wanted to get there, wanted to bat through and bat as long as I can, trying to protect my partner and staying positive, we ended up getting 115 on this track which was enough in the end. Just told him to play straight, be prepared, tried to give him two balls and asked him to focus. Such was the pitch, it was slow and turning, we gave it all and it was 100%.

Yes friends, you have read it right! Zimbabwe have humbled India. They have bowled exceptionally to turn around a case which looked highly improbable!

Right from the first over, they were at it in terms of taking wickets. The first four Indian wickets fell for only 22 runs well inside the power play. Two debutants - Abhishek Sharma and Riyan Parag - went without really making much of an impression. Dhruv Jurel hung around for a while but fell just under 10 overs with India, not even 50 on the board!

Skipper Shubman Gill held fort and tried to rescue the ship. But Sikandar Raza, his opposite number cleaned him up in the 11th over with the visitors still three short of 50.

India tried hard to still make a case and did. Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi and Avesh Khan gave a good account of themselves. Khaleel Ahmed too hung in there to support Washington. India managed to take it to the last over, in with a chance of winning the match.

But the ask was just too much and the effort fell slightly short of what the requirement was. Zimbabwe, after being in a precarious position themselves at 90/9 in the first innings, came back to take the match with a delivery left, bowling India out!

Both Tendai Chatara and Raza bowled with a lot of heart and authority. Blessing Muzarabani chipped in with some top overs and some of the fielding performances were just out of the top draw! Quite deservingly, they were able to upstage a team which was celebrating the T20 World Cup win just a week back, all be it that it is new look now!

Zimbabwe do it! Zimbabwe win against the strong-looking Indian team! They show how good they can be when under pressure and India, well, they are in a state of shock! The home crowd is dancing in joy and the home team is ecstatic!

19.5 Tendai Chatara to Washington Sundar, OUT! STRAIGHT UP IN THE AIR AND TAKEN! Zimbabwe pull off a heist, absolute scenes are at the Harare Sports Club and they go 1-0 up in the series with a thrilling win. Bangs in the short delivery, Sundar clears his front foot to pull but gets a big top edge. Muzarabani runs across from short fine-leg, kept his eyes on the ball and dives to pouch it safely. Plenty to ponder for the visitors in the next game.

19.4 Tendai Chatara to Washington Sundar, back of a length outside the off-stump, Sundar had to reach and slams it to long-off, that's another dot. This is all but over for India now, unless Chatara bowls a couple of no-balls or wides!

When two runs could have been run, they didn't run even one! But that is an excellent stop from Johnathan Campbell!

19.3 Tendai Chatara to Washington Sundar, OH! Top effort from Campbell, brilliant, magnificent, he's saved a certain boundary there. Length delivery outside the off-stump, Sundar spanked it to deep extra-cover. Bennett comes running around, throws himself to his left and stops it. It's another dot for India!
