So that is that as far as this contest was concerned - a game that ended even before it could begin but we do have a double-header lined up tomorrow - the Stars play the Scorchers while the Thunder lock horns with the Strikers. We were awaiting to see the batters wield the willow wild and throw their bats around but alas, the only instance it happened was during the bat flip. A contest that promised a lot but alas, we'll never know how it could have transpired. You've got to feel for the crowd as well - it's a beautiful venue and it doesn't get to host too many games but it's just not to be tonight. Both the Renegades and the Sixers will now split points and get two apiece against their name. Hopefully the weather would be more relenting on January 9, when the Sixers lock horns with the Perth Scorchers at the same venue.

7:49 pm local time, 14:19 IST: The covers are being peeled off! The umpires were in discussion with the two captains and it seems like we do have a game on, folks.

Sam Harper: It's a little bit wet out here. Hopefully we can get on (soon). It's been the feature of this competition - the likes of Ben McDermott and Mitch Marsh, they're making the big contributions with the 80s and 90s so I should get there next. Under the lights it can be a bit of a struggle sometimes so it's about keeping it nice and simple. It looks like a really good crowd coming in so we need to get some cricket in for all of us. (On his preferred batting position) I don't have a preference but I'm happy to go down the other if required. Finch comes in at 3 - just a bit of juggling around with Maddo going out. We desperately need a win - fingers crossed that we can get something going.
