Reece Topley is a professional cricketer from England who was born on February 21, 1994, in Ipswich, Suffolk. He is primarily a left-arm medium-fast bowler who bats right-handed. He was part of England’s T20 World Cup 2016 squad when they finished as Runners-Up.

Reece Topley Domestic Career
Coming from a cricketing family, his father and uncle were first-class cricketers. He made his First Class debut for Essex in 2011 coming up through their youth program. In his debut match for Essex, he impressed with a five-wicket haul in the second innings against Kent. He continued to impress the selectors in the County Championship and raised his stakes for an international debut.
Four years later, a day after making his T20I debut, the Hampshire County Club signed him to play for their side in the County Championship. This news also brought another good news for Topley as he got his ODI call-up just a few days later.
Reece Topley IPL Career
Reece Topley was bought by the Royal Challengers Bangalore (now Royal Challengers Bengaluru) for INR 1.9 crores in the IPL 2023 auction. However, after making his IPL debut against the Mumbai Indians, where he had taken a wicket, he was ruled out of the season for sustaining a shoulder injury and was replaced by South African veteran Wayne Parnell.

Reece Topley ODI Career
Reece Topley made his ODI against Australia at Manchester on September 13, 2015. The home side were bowled out for just 138 in 33 overs. Australia chased down the total quite easily with 8 wickets in hand and 154 balls to spare. Topley returned with figures of 0/33 in 5.2 overs.
Topley was sidelined for due to his fitness issues and was on and off the team. He made his return in an ODI against Ireland in July 2020. Since then, the tall left-arm pacer has been in the white-ball scheme of things for England. His best figures came against India in an ODI series in 2022, where he returned with figures of 6/24 and became the second pacer after Shaheen Shah Afridi to pick a six-wicket haul at Lord’s.
Topley was selected for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 in India and enjoyed a terrific spell against Bangladesh, registering figures of 10-1-43-4. However, he was ruled out of the tournament due to an index finger fracture and was replaced by Brydan Carse.

Reece Topley made his international debut in a T20I against Australia at Cardiff on August 31, 2015. This was the beginning of a career marred with numerous injuries. England scored 182/5 in their 20 overs. In the second innings, Topley got the wicket of Mitchell Marsh as he finished with figures of 1/35 in his 4 overs. Eventually, the Australians fell short of the target by just 5 runs.
Topley later showed up in the ICC T20 World Cup 2016 and was part of the England squad that finished as runners-up in the final. He was then named as a replacement for left-arm pacer Tymal Mills in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 and was named in the preliminary squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. However, another injury in the form of ligament damage made Topley be ruled out of the tournament.
Topley has been selected for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 and wants to make amends for his side.

Reece Topley was part of the English squad that played in the ICC T20 World Cup 2012. He finished as the tournament’s leading wicket-taker, picking up 19 wickets at an average of 9.10 in 6 innings, including a five-wicket haul against Bangladesh in a 5th place play-off.
Topley holds the record for the third-most wickets in a single edition of the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup after Enamul Haque Jr (2004) and Kwena Maphaka (2024). He also got selected to play for the England Lions U19 team against South Africa U19.
