Commentary

So this is Bangladesh's fifth defeat in the last six matches. Work needs to be done for Shakib and his men before the St Lucia Test, and we have to wait and watch if they come up with a response.

They still have almost a week to prepare themselves for the final test and as Shakib said, they have to work a lot on their batting to challenge the West Indies' menacing pace attack led by Kemar Roach. This Test match was one-sided throughout, and let's hope the second Test will be an even tussle and keep us hooked. Kraigg Brathwaite: Well, I thought Roach played well. We would've liked a little more runs in the first innings but overall it's alright. Kemar Roach is a great leader on and off the field and the bowlers has he has set the tone on the first day. For me, Kemar is everything and the way he batted against when his finger was sour. His attitude is good and he always brings a good vibe. We are really looking for a St. Lucia challenge and kudos to Bangladesh for bowling well throughout. Yeah very pleasing to see Campbell's innings. He has got a lot of abilities and is glad to see his half-century. Reifer got a 100 against England, so you will see him improve.

Shakib Al Hasan: Well it obviously played a significant part. Toss is not in my control. The wicket was pretty good on Day 3 and except on the first day, the wicket was good. It's not acceptable and we've been doing it regularly in the last 4-to 5 Test matches. We have to get better at it. I think there is a lot to learn from. Nurul played really well and the way he played shows a lot of character and the other batter can learn from him. I don't have any complaints about the bowlers as their bowl their heart out. So no complaints about that. Just batting let us down and we will be back stronger. I just made it simple. If it's there to be hit I will go for it and that's what I did.

Kemar Roach is the Player of the Match. Here's what he has to say: The kids rang me up last night to say congratulations. It was a good feeling to help the fans and the team. (On leveling with Michael Holding) It's good. It's a great feeling to be up there with the modern-day greats. I'm a big person on stats, so to be up there with the legends of the game puts me up there as well. I'll keep working for the 300 mark. (On plans in the second innings) Just being patient. The pitch played much better and the ball got much softer. We knew it was a new ball pitch. We knew we had to start with the new ball and take it from there. It's a pleasing performance. Definitely top five. We have to keep working hard for ourselves and for our team.

That's it. West Indies chased the remaining 35 runs within 30 minutes of the first session, all thanks to John Campbell's aggressive intent. West Indies dominated the Test match from Day 1 and deservedly get a commanding win over the visitors.

The damage was done on the first day when the hosts bundled Bangladesh out for just 103. The visitors didn't recover after the batting nightmare, and even in the second innings, they were reeling at 109/6 at one stage before Shakib and Nurul bailed them out by stitching a 100-run partnership to give a lead. The partnership looked a bit of concern until West Indies took the second new ball and took the remaining four wickets in the final session of Day 3.

In reply, Khaled Ahmed ran through the West Indies top-order and sent the hosts reeling at 9-3 at one stage but Blackwood and Campbell weathered the storm and made sure there weren't any further slip-ups.
