About Miami Dolphins

Established in 1965 the Miami Dolphins are the oldest professional sports team in Florida. They made their professional football debut in 1966 as the ninth team to join the American Football League. Over the years, the Dolphins have achieved great success, including two Super Bowl victories in the 1972 and 1973 seasons, making them the only team with an undefeated season in NFL history. Led by legendary coach Don Shula, the Dolphins became a dominant force in the '70s and '80s. Although they have not won a Super Bowl since then, the team remains competitive and strives for greatness. Dolphins fans, known for their unwavering loyalty, fill Hard Rock Stadium with enthusiasm and energy on game days. Miami's vibrant football culture and iconic teal and orange colors make it a celebrated franchise in the NFL. The 1972 Miami Dolphins finished their perfect 17-0-0 season by defeating the Washington Redskins 14-7 in Super Bowl VII after winning the AFC Eastern division and AFC titles.

The Dolphins, who were established by Joseph Robbie, also had a flawless opening game in their inaugural AFL season. Dan Marino, a quarterback, developed into one of the NFL's most prolific passers between the years of 1983 and 1999, setting multiple passing records for the league. Before retiring after the 1999 season, Marino coached the Dolphins to five division titles, ten playoff berths, and a Super Bowl XIX participation. Since then the Dolphins have only reached moderate levels of success in the NFL with only 4 playoff appearances. The Dolphins have been competing in the AFC East division of the NFL since 1970. The franchise is currently valued at around $4.6 billion by Forbes.

Miami Dolphins Roster 2023-24

The Dolphins have an impressive roster going into the upcoming NFL season with quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, wide receiver Tyreek Hill and Jalen Waddle and cornerback Jalen Ramsey. Rookie cornerback Cam Smith will likely be a third option cornerback in the roster with a lot to learn from teammates Jalen Ramsey and Xavien Howard. Rookie pick Devon Achane is another player to look out for. Coach Mike McDaniel's fascination with Achane's blazing 4.32 speed suggests that the young player might have a unique set of plays designed specifically for him each week, provided he quickly grasps the playbook.
