Cooper DeJean is an American football cornerback for the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2024 NFL season. The Eagles selected him as the 40th overall pick in the second round of the 2024 NFL draft. In his rookie season, he recorded 51 total tackles, 0.5 sacks, one forced fumble, three fumble recoveries, and six pass deflections (via Pro Football Reference). He was also named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team in 2024.
Originally from Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, DeJean attended OA-BCIG, a consolidated school in Ida Grove, Iowa. At OA-BCIG, he played as both a quarterback and defensive back throughout. In 2021, Cooper DeJean committed to playing college football at the University of Iowa for the Iowa Hawkeyes football team. During his time at Iowa, as a true freshman in 2021, he played in seven games and tallied four tackles (via Sports Reference). He earned a starting role in his sophomore year in 2022. In the 2023 season, he was named a unanimous consensus All-American, Tatum-Woodson Big Ten Defensive Back of the Year, and Rodgers-Dwight Big Ten Return Specialist of the Year. After the 2023 season, DeJean declared for the 2024 NFL Draft.
