Born on May 11, 1989, Cameron Newton is a former American football quarterback. He last played in the National Football League (NFL) with the New England Patriots. Previously he had played nine seasons with the Carolina Panthers. In the 2011 NFL Draft, the Panthers selected him first overall.
Before joining Auburn, Newton played college football at Florida and Blinn. In 2010 at Auburn, he won the Bowl Champion Series National Championship and Heisman Trophy. Nicknamed "Super Cam", with 70 rushing touchdowns, he is the NFL career leader in quarterback rushing touchdowns. 2015 was his most successful season with the Panthers when he was named Most Valuable Player (MVP). En route to a Super Bowl appearance in Super Bowl 50, he helped them obtain a franchise-best 15-1 record. To win the NFL MVP, he is one of four African-American quarterbacks and was the first to solely receive it.
