Mickens committed to the Clemenson Tigers football program in 2020. Over five seasons, he appeared in 60 games and started 30 of them. He recorded 229 tackles (13.5 for loss), seven interceptions, 15 pass breakups, and one fumble recovery in 2,174 career snaps. He became just the 10th player in Clemson history to play in 60 games.
