Olamide Zaccheaus has been a wide receiver and return specialist with the Washington Commanders since April 2024. After going undrafted in the 2019 NFL Draft, he signed a free-agent contract with the Atlanta Falcons. Following three seasons, in April 2023, he agreed to a one-year contract with the Philadelphia Eagles, and at the end of the season, he had 164 receiving yards, 10 receptions, and two touchdowns.
Zaccheaus, a native of Plainfield, New Jersey, was born on July 23, 1997. During his high school years, he participated in football at Philadelphia's St. Joseph's Prep School. After enrolling at the University of Virginia in 2015, he was chosen for the second-team All-ACC in 2017 and the first-team All-ACC in 2018 while playing for the Virginia Cavaliers. In his final year of college, he caught 250 receptions for 2,753 yards and 22 touchdowns.
Who is Olamide Zaccheaus' mother?
Olamide Zaccheaus’ mother is Yimbra Mozimo, and his father’s name is not available in the public domain.
The Philly Voice claims that Mozimo followed her husband after he immigrated to the United States from Africa, and when she arrived in March 1994, she found that he was reportedly in an arranged marriage in Texas to obtain his green card. She became a U.S. citizen after winning her own green card in a lottery held in June 1994. They had a boy named Olawole in 1995, followed by Olamide two years later.
Mozimo recalled and said to the Philly Voice how people would notice her bruises. They would see the "black eyes" and bruises, and they would approach and say, "You need to leave the boys’ father." Mozimo faced a stark choice: stay, risking death and fearing for her children's future, or leave. The boys’ father demanded total control.
Mozimo called cousins in Maryland to come to rescue her after gathering all of her possessions in the living room of their Texas house. The next morning, when the boys' father got home from his nightly part-time job, he discovered Yimbra was leaving. She said, “He was so mad when my cousins arrived that he was going to beat me up. I called the police and the police stayed there until I packed everything up. The boys’ father demanded that the boys stay with him. The police told him that they were going with me and that we would work out visitation rights." (via The Philly Voice)
The family first settled in Plainfield, New Jersey, where Mozimo worked part-time as a computer operator at night and as a data entry clerk at a nearby college during the day. Mozimo was asked by one of the boys' babysitters if the boys would be open to playing football. “That’s how the football started,” said Mozimo, who, as of December 2024, has been employed for almost ten years as an advanced medical bill processor for a South Jersey insurance company.
