Trish Stratus: A Brief Biography

Patricia Anne Stratigias is a Canadian fitness master, fitness model, and professional wrestler best known for her work as Trish Stratus in WWE. She is a former seven-time women's champion and a WWE Hall of Famer.

Early Life

Trish Stratus is a former professional wrestler from Toronto, Canada where she was born on the 18th of December, 1975. She studied biology and kinesiology at York University and played soccer and field hockey. After a faculty strike in 1997, Stratus became a receptionist at a gym, where she was discovered by MuscleMag International and began a successful career as a fitness model. She was eventually signed by the World Wrestling Federation in 1999 and trained by Ron Hutchison at Sully's Gym. Stratus became a popular and successful wrestler, known for her athleticism and charisma.

Professional Wrestling Career

WWF/WWE (2000-Present)

McMahon and Women's Champion (2001-2003)

Stratigeas signed with the company and started working as Trish Stratus. Stratus debuted on Sunday Night Heat and managed Test and Albert. By the end of the year, Stratus went solo and left the team.

Stratus was featured in a storyline with Vince McMahon and had an on-screen relationship with the chairman. After No Way Out, Vince McMahon dumped her after their loss against Stephanie and William Regal. McMahon disrespected and insulted Stratus on various occasions.

At WrestleMania XVII, Stratus turned face when she slapped Vince to help Shane McMahon. After rehabbing from an injury, Stratus returned at Survivor Series and won her first WWF Women's Championship. She dropped the title in February to Jazz. She won the championships three more times during her year-long feud with Jazz and Victoria, which concluded at WrestleMania XIX.

Various Storylines and Lita (2003-2005)

In November, Stratus began a storyline with Christian and Chris Jericho. Christian and Jericho began their rivalry over their love for Stratus. Jericho was in an on-screen relationship with Stratus when Christian challenged him to a match. At WrestleMania XX, Christian defeated Chris Jericho when Straus turned heel and attacked Jericho.

In June, she began her rivalry with Lita, which gave her two more women's championships before getting injured and sidelined for over four months. At WrestleMania XXI, Stratus defeated Christy Hemme to retain her championship.

Mickie James and First Retirement (2005-2007)

In November, Trish Stratus and Mickie James began their storyline where James was obsessed with Stratus and wanted to befriend her. After Stratus rejected James's friendship, James turned on her. At WrestleMania XXII, Stratus lost the championship to James and ended her championship reign at 448 days.

After WrestleMania, Stratus returned in June and challenged James. Stratus began teaming up with Carlito and John Cena before facing Lita for the women's championship. At Unforgiven, Stratus won her seventh and last women's championship by defeating Lita.

Sporadic Appearances (2007-Present)

After retiring, Stratus made several sporadic appearances on RAW, SmackDown, Royal Rumble, and WrestleMania. At WrestleMania XXVII, she teamed up with John Morrison and Snooki to defeat LayCool and Dolph Ziggler.

She was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2013. She teamed up with Lita to defeat Mickie James and Alicia Fox. She entered the inaugural Women's Royal Rumble in 2018. In 2019, she faced Charlotte Flair and lost at SummerSlam.

After a hiatus of three years, she made her return to programming in August 2022 only to be interrupted by Damage CTRL. She took her revenge on the February 27, 2023 episode of WWE RAW where she helped Lita and Becky Lynch defeat Damage CTRL for the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship. On the next episode, she announced her return to the ring at WrestleMania Hollywood.

At the event, Stratus teamed up with Lynch and Lita to take on Damage CTRL (Bayley, Dakota Kai, and Iyo Sky) in a six-women tag team match. The event saw Stratus and the team chalk the victory. On the April 10 episode of RAW, Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez challenged Lita and Becky Lynch for the Women's Tag Team Championship. However, Stratus replaced Lita in that match who was injured at the time.

Stratus and Lynch lost the match and the former snapped. She attacked Lynch and turned heel and also revealed that she was the one who earlier attacked Lita. Stratus was then drafted to RAW in the annual WWE draft. A match between Stratus and Lynch was then officiated at Night of Champions where Stratus won, thanks to an interference from former NXT Superstar Zoey Stark, who was then drafted to RAW alongside Stratus.

Lynch demanded a rematch against Trish and the two women are all set to battle it out at Payback 2023 in a Steel Cage Match.
