Tyler Johnson, born on July 29, 1990, is an American professional ice hockey player presently active with the Chicago Blackhawks in the National Hockey League (NHL).
Johnson was drafted by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the fourth round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. He scored his first NHL goal on March 16, 2013, against the Carolina Hurricanes. He played his first full season with the Lightning during the 2012–13 season, scoring 3 goals and adding 3 assists in 14 games.
Johnson's breakout season came in the 2014–15 season when he scored 29 goals and added 43 assists in 77 games. Johnson continued to be a key player for the Lightning in the following seasons. He scored 14 goals in the 2015–16 season, and 19 goals in the 2016–17 season. On September 28, 2020, Tyler Johnson became the first Spokane native to win the Stanley Cup as the Lightning defeated the Dallas Stars 4-2 in the Finals. They won the championship again in 2021. For the 2021–22 season, Johnson was traded to the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for the contract of Brent Seabrook. In the 2021–22 season, Johnson's play time was limited due to a neck injury requiring surgery and subsequent concussion.
