17:15 PM IST|| This is all we have from our live coverage of this game between the Sydney Sixers and the Brisbane Heat. This is Samanvaya Sharma signing off on behalf of Arya as we will take your leave now. See you soon!
Ben Dwarshuis (Player of the Match): It was nice to win the toss and bowl. The conditions suited us. Nice to extract the helpful conditions. We identified the surge as an area where we can improve on. I think if we do work in training you back yourselves to get the job done. Yeah we are clicking well as a bowling unit. The wickets are being shared around. It's our fielding as well. Silky took some spectacular catches like he does. Yeah it was sweet, hopefully we meet them again in the final and get the revenge there.
16:53 PM IST|| MATCH SUMMARY|| Sydney Sixers won by 8 wickets.
It all began with team Sydney Sixers winning the toss and deciding to have a bowl first at Gabba. Team Brisbane Heat stepped out to bat first with Tom Banton and Jimmy Peirson as their opening pair. they were unable to get that momentum in their batting right from the start as the Sixers kept changing their bowlers regularly. They didn't allow the Heat batters to have their eye set on a particular bowler. They lost their first wicket early with Tom Banton moved back trying to go for a huge shot. Colin Munro too didn't have a good outing with the bat tonight. This all forced them to score only 24 runs in the powerplay. Later on, Nathan Mc Sweeney came into bat and played a crucial knock of 34 runs in just 29 deliveries. This knock from him provided stability to the Heat's innings in the middle overs. Then in the death overs, Paul Walter played the role of pinch hitter and helped them to reach up to a respectable total on the board. In terms of their bowling, only Xavier Bartlett and Paul Walter struck 1 wicket each. Apart from them, all their bowlers looked clueless tonight.
After all this, Josh Phillipe and James Vince came out to chase a started it on a high note with an attacking mindset, which didn't give a reasonable amount of time to the Brisbane Heat bowlers to get their length right. They kept on attacking right from the first ball and seized this run chase in a matter of just 16 overs. Josh Phillipe played a blistering knock for the Sixers once again tonight, leading his team right from the front. Kurtis Patterson and Moises Henriques gave some final touches in the end and the Sixers won 4 matches in a row. From their bowling side, Ben Dwarshuis bowled an exemplary spell tonight and took 4 wickets.
In this way, Sydney Sixers won this match by making it a one-sided affair and now they have topped the points table with 8 points in hand.
16.1 Xavier Bartlett to Josh Philippe, FOUR! Philippe finishes it off in style. On a fuller-length around the pads, flicked away aerialy down towards the deep square leg region for a boundary to see his side through.
