So, that is it from myself, Karthik Raj as I wrap up the proceedings of this fixture. There is more cricketing action coming up later in the day. So, stay tuned and join us at Sportskeeda!
Faf du Plessis(Saint Lucia captain): Helps winning the toss. Great fighting performance from our guys. 174 was probably 20 runs short on this wicket. Some great catches, they've been catching well, not the easiest ground to catch. It makes a big difference. Really important to start well and put pressure on the bowlers especially in a chase. You can break the back of the opposition. Tried to hit 60+ in the powerplay and important that one guy bats through, Charles did that really well. We turned it around really nicely today after two back to back losses. Nice to give the crowd something to smile about as well.
Andre Fletcher (St Kitts & Nevis Patriots): We started really in the Powerplay. I thought we slowed down in the middle phase. I was struggling in the middle but it was good to see Rilee Rossouw come out and strike the ball well. (On Johann Layne) With his height and also he is very good with the new ball. Unfortunately, it was not his day. (About facing Barbados Royals) We are playing them at home. They will come hard at us. We have to execute well in all three departments.
Johnson Charles (Player of the Match): It was a very good innings but I would've loved to finish it off for the team. Opening with Faf has always been good. We feed off of each other. It's lovely, the supporters came out in numbers and it shows how wonderful they are.

What a convincing victory from the hosts, Saint Lucia Kings as they seal the match with 21 balls to spare. Chasing 174 for victory, the opening duo of Faf du Plessis and Johnson Charles came out all guns blazing. The St Kitts & Nevis Patriots' skipper Andre Fletcher took some strange bowling calls as he bowled the duo of Johann Layne and Veerasammy Permaul as the duo conceded a lot runs with the field restrictions in place. The Powerplay was so good for the Kings that they reached 72/0 to break the back of the chase.
The opening pair continued to flourish with Charles also becoming the first player in CPL history to score 3000 runs. Both the batters went onto score rapid fifties as the Patriots seemed to run out of ideas. It was eventually Josh Clarkson who broke the 115-run partnership in the 11th over. Clarkson struck once more a couple of overs later as he had Tim Seifert hole out to long-on. At one end, Charles continued to come up with some more big hits but the Patriots tried to drag the inevitable with some wickets. Anrich Nortje got the better of Bhanuka Rajapaksa with a quick short delivery while Wanindu Hasaranga got a couple of scalps in the 16th over including Charles himself. In the end, Roston Chase came up with a lovely flick to fence as Saint Lucia completed a victory at their home ground.
16.3 Anrich Nortje to Roston Chase, CHASE FINISHES IT OFF IN STYLE! Length delivery angling in, Chase flicks it between fine-leg and deep backward square-leg to seal a five-wicket victory with plenty of balls to spare.
16.2 Anrich Nortje to Ackeem Auguste, short on the body, Ackeem pulls it to deep backward square-leg for a single.
16.1 Anrich Nortje to Ackeem Auguste, short outside-leg, Ackeem takes his eyes off the ball and takes a blow onto the glove.
