Pitch Report
We return to batting paradise at Warner. One of the things that has assisted boundaries is the dimensions. We are using the same pitch we used before that means we have square boundaries of 63 and 67 metres. 68 metres down the ground. The three deliveries you can bowl on this surface- wide defensive Yorker they can use the good length deliveries outside off and a few short ones with aggression. Let's reflect on what delivery got Kyle Mayers. It was slow and wide and then Mikyele Louis was dismissed of a pace off slower one.

That brings us to the end of another cliffhanger of a CPL match. Like always it was a pleasure bringing all the live commentary from this encounter. Keep following Sportskeeda for all the latest sporting action but for now this is myself (Arya Sekhar Chakraborty) signing off.
Rovman Powell (Barbados Royals captain): I think when we came here, we came to the conclusion that it's not a 260 wicket. Credit goes for the guys for the performance of the bowlers especially in the powerplay. It's a case of bowlers win tournaments and batters win games. We have very good overseas spinning options. I think the key moment was when we decided to send the left hander. When the majority of the spinners would be out, myself, Jason and Nyeem could get to the last few overs and try and finish it off.
Andre Fletcher (St Kitts and Nevis Patriots captain): Honestly I am happy in the sense that our bowlers tried their utmost best. I can't ask for anything better. We were 10-15 short of a good score. Hasaranga brought us back in the game and some fireworks towards the end got us over 150 but it wasn't enough in the end. They were soft dismissal, even the way Sherfane got out. He could have taken a single on the final delivery. These are the things which we can look into. We want to be positive but have to be smart as well. We have played five games already. Still young in the tournament so I am still supporting the guys. We can't fault the bowlers now. It all boils down to us. We have to believe in ourselves. Yes we have disappointed them. There must be a winner and a loser but it's about dealing with positives from the game and build from there.
Dunith Wellalage is the Player of the Match, here is what he had to say: When I came to the wicket I just tried to play my natural game and back myself. Powell told me to play my normal game and try to hit whenever I get an opportunity. Both Theekshana and Hasaranga are world class bowlers and it's an honour to play with them.
Barbados Royals won by 2 wickets (with one delivery to spare)
The St Kitts and Nevis Patriots fought till the end and took the game to the penultimate delivery but eventually ends up losing another close game with a delivery to spare. Nyeem Young just about managed to hold his nerves and smashed the penultimate delivery over the mid off fielder to seal the deal for the Barbados Royals.
The target of 154 looked a straightforward one at the halfway stage but the Patriots bowlers put up a performance to remember, managing to make a match out of it. Kyle Mayers began with the new ball and had an immediate impact by bagging the wicket of Rahkeem Cornwall with a beautiful inswinger.
Quinton de Kock managed to find some rhythm to his innings by smashing a six and a four off his countryman Anrich Nortje but was dismissed in the very next over of Kyle Mayers. It was a front of the hand slower one which gripped on the surface and breached his inside edge to rattle the stumps. Kadeem Alleyne who was sent up the order didn't disappoint as he took the attack to mystery spinners Wanindu Hasaranga. He smashed a couple of sixes and a four to get going.
It was the introduction of Veerasammy Permaul which led to the downfall of Alleyne. Shamarh Brooks struggled during his brief stay and eventually departed from Hasaranga's bowling at a crucial juncture of the game. It was the partnership between the 21 year old Sri Lankan Dunith Wellalage and the Royals skipper Rovman Powell which got them back on track. Both batted sensibly and found the boundaries when their team needed them.
Wellalage went onto score a well crafted 39 off 32 deliveries before an unfortunate run out. Powell was also dismissed pretty soon by Anrich Nortje as the Patriots started clawing their way back in the game. The pressure was building but Mohammad Mohsin conceded 11 runs in the 18th over to tilt the scales in favour of the Royals. With 8 required off the final over, Ryan John dismissed Jason Holder off the very first delivery but Nyeem Young managed to hit the winning boundary to seal it for the Royals.
19.5 Ryan John to Nyeem Young, SIX! Nyeem Young has finished it off in style with a delivery to go. Nyeem clears his front leg on that fuller-length delivery around middle, blasts it flat and hard down the ground, over the mid-off fielder and just clears the boundary. Barbados Royals win by 2 wickets
Naveen ul Haq, RHB comes out to the crease.
19.4 Ryan John to Nyeem Young, WICKET! Theekshana could be run out here. That was a full-length delivery sliding down leg, Nyeem tries to whip it towards the square leg region, just kisses his legs and off to the keeper, Theekshana was looking for the single and doesn't manage to return in time, a good throw from the keeper and John whips off the bails.
19.3 Ryan John to Nyeem Young, FOUR! That's a fortuitous boundary for Nyeem Young and that should ease the nerves which was building. Nyeem comes down the track and swings hard across the line to a full one angling in, squirts it off the inside edge, a valiant dive from Fletcher to his left but not enough to stop the boundary. 3 from 3 required now.
19.2 Ryan John to Maheesh Theekshana, slower fuller-length delivery a shade outside off, pushed away towards the long on region by Theekshana and gets off the mark. 7 required off 4 deliveries.
