Joseph "Joe" Mixon is a running back for the Houston Texans, originally selected by the Cincinnati Bengals at the 2017 NFL Draft as the #48 pick in the second round. In March 2024, Mixon was sent to the Houston Texans in return for a seventh-round pick in 2024. Over seven seasons with the Bengals, he has played in 97 games, starting 88 of them, and recorded 1,571 carries for 6,412 rushing yards and 49 touchdowns. The Oakley, California, native went to Freedom High School and then played football and basketball.


A standout player in both, the five-star recruit, Mixon, opted for the University of Oklahoma from 2014-2016. However, a misdemeanor assault charge resulted in a suspension for his rookie seasons. In his two-season college career, he played in 25 games, starting nine of them and recording 300 carries for 2,027 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns, while 65 receptions for 894 receiving yards and nine touchdowns. He was also named for the first-team All-Big-12 in 2016, after which he forgoed his remaining years for the NDF Draft.
