Joseph "Joe" Mixon is an American football running back for the Houston Texans as of the 2024 NFL season. He was selected by the Cincinnati Bengals with the 48th pick in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He is a two-time pro bowler in 2021 and 2024. In March 2024, Mixon was traded by the Bengals to the Texans. As of January 2025, he has played in 111 games, recording 1,816 attempts for 7,428 rushing yards and 60 touchdowns. Further, he also recorded 319 receptions for 2,448 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns, according to Pro Football Reference.

The Oakley, California, native Mixon went to Freedom High School and then played football and basketball. A standout player in both, the five-star recruit, Mixon, opted for the University of Oklahoma from 2014-2016. However, a misdemeanor assault charge resulted in a suspension for his rookie season. In his two-season college career, he played in 25 games, starting nine of them and recording 300 carries for 2,027 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns, while 65 receptions for 894 receiving yards and nine touchdowns. He was also named for the first-team All-Big-12 in 2016, after which he forgoed his remaining years for the NFL Draft.
