Alex De Minaur was born on 17 February 1999 to father Anibal de Minaur and mother Esther de Minaur in Sydney, Australia.

De Minaur’s family faced a huge financial crisis in 2011; so severe that his tennis career was put on hold. The Australian’s father could not afford his son’s travel and tennis coaching expenses. However, his then coach Adolfo Gutierez saved the day by not accepting any fee for his coaching and made sure Minaur developed his tennis skills.
