Pitch Report
It is a little slow, there are some cracks, but there are certain grassy patches here and there and bald elsewhere. This suggests that there will be some turn on offer, and it should be a grind for the batters.

10:15 PM Local time (11:45 PM IST): So that is it from this game won by the Dubai Capitals, courtesy of Dasun Shanaka's firepower to justify his role as a finisher in the side. While for the Giants this loss has left a lot of work to do or else they might miss a place in the top four. For now, I, Keshav, on behalf of my colleague Bidipto, bid you a goodbye. Wadaean wadaean.
Shai Hope is the Player of the Match: The surface is a little bit slow, so I had to be a little bit closer than I wanted to be. It was just one of those balls that stick to your hands and it was a sharp catch.I am just trying to grow and to adapt quickly in any of the conditions we play on. I just try to do things in the nets, try to improve the game. The way our side has been going is pretty commendable. I am just trying to find ways to get better.
Sikandar Raza (Dubai Capitals captain): We adjusted to the conditions quite well I guess! But we won't mind playing here more often! At the halfway stage, I thought that 165 would have been a difficult chase. We did take it a bit too deep, but got the job done. Shai Hope actually held the innings together, batted really well. That helped Dasun Shanaka and me to finish things off the way we did. We still haven't played out best game yet, but there are areas of improvement for sure which we will work on.
James Vince (Gulf Giants captain): Dasun Shanaka was the only batter who struck it so clean! We got ourselves into a good position tonight, but made some costly mistakes. Gerhard Erasmus is such a good fielder, but even he misjudged one at the wrong time, but I guess it happens. Fine margins in this format as we know, we've got to find out way back into it from here on.

9:53 PM local time (11:23 PM IST): Dubai Capitals win by five wickets and with eight balls remaining
The Dubai Capitals have climbed to third place with this win against the Gulf Giants. For the Capitals, Shai Hope's wicket came as a blessing in disguise as Dasun Shanaka wreaked havoc with the bat to smack two four and a six in the over. However, same can't be said for the bowler Blessing Muzarabani who was at the receiving end of Shanaka's whacking and the Zimbabwean created a chance in the over, however, the fielder at long-off misjudged it and the ball raced to the fence. Dasun Shanaka then went on to showcase a repeat with two sixes and a four to take his side across the line.
Shai Hope started off well and took the bowlers front on in the first two bowlers, however, two economical overs from Muzarabani and Dominic Drakes put the pressure on the Capitals and Ben Dunk lost his wicket in the subsequent over, with an ill-timed shot to mid-on. Gulbadin Naib played a cameo knock but lost his wicket just after the strategic timeout post the ninth over to Aayan Afzal Khan.
Shai Hope held tight on to one end as wickets fell at regular intervals. He added 30 odd runs with the skipper Sikandar Raza but he too felt right after the second strategic timeout. In walked Dasun Shanaka and he bludgeoned Muzarabani to pull the game towards the hosts. With 26 runs needed off 18 deliveries, Raza smacked another boundary in the subsequent over to grip the game. With Shanaka on the crease, the Capitals crossed the line with with eight deliveries remaining.
For the Gulf Giants, Aayan Afzal Khan was the pick of the bowlers with two wickets at an economy of 5.75 runs per over while Gerhard Erasmus's two overs proved costly to the Giants as he leaked 23 runs. With yet another loss, the Giants have a lot of work to do to qualify for the playoffs as they currently sit at the bottom of the table with 2 points from five games.
18.4 Dominic Drakes to Dasun Shanaka, DUBAI CAPITALS GET THE WIN! Back of a length and slow on off-stump. Pulled away off the back foot down to wide long-on for a single to seal the deal!
18.3 Dominic Drakes to Dasun Shanaka, FOUR RUNS! Full and wide outside off-stump. Nicely squirted to the gap between short third and backward point for a boundary! Scores are level.
Two back to back sixes and the hosts now require just five runs
18.2 Dominic Drakes to Dasun Shanaka, SIX MORE! Full and wide outside off-stump. Powered away off the front foot over the right of deep cover point for a flat maximum!
