Jordan Cox: A Brief Biography
Jordan Matthew Cox is an English cricketer who plays professionally for Kent County Cricket Club. Cox began his journey with Kent at just 10 years old, working his way through the club's youth system and academy. In 2018, he was recognized as the top academy scholar, earning the John Aitken Gray Award, and signed his first professional contract with the club later that year.
Cox has also represented England at the U19 level, playing in the 2020 U19 World Cup. One of his career highlights came in 2020, when he made history for Kent alongside Jack Leaning. The duo set a new record for the highest partnership in the club's history, with Cox scoring an unbeaten 238 runs in a remarkable 423-run stand against Sussex at Canterbury.

Jordan Cox Domestic Career
In April 2019, after scoring a century in a 50-over Second XI friendly, Jordan Cox made his List A cricket debut on April 27 against Pakistan, scoring 21 runs. His consistent performances, including two centuries for the Second XI, led to his first-class debut in July against Hampshire. His growing reputation also earned him a spot in the England under-19 squad for matches against India and Bangladesh that summer. Later in August, Cox made his Twenty20 debut in the 2019 T20 Blast against Somerset.
By the end of 2019, Cox had established himself as a key player for England's under-19 team, finishing a tri-series against West Indies and Sri Lanka as the leading run-scorer. His achievements earned him a place in England's squad for the 2020 Under-19 Cricket World Cup in South Africa.
In August 2020, Cox scored his maiden first-class century against Sussex in the Bob Willis Trophy, remaining unbeaten on 238. This knock was part of a Kent record partnership of 423 runs with Jack Leaning. Notably, his century made him the first player born in the 2000s to score a hundred in England. However, he was later dropped from the team for breaching COVID-19 protocols by taking photos with fans.
Despite this setback, Cox signed a contract extension with Kent later that year, securing his place with the club until the end of the 2023 season.

In the 2019 T20 Blast, Jordan Cox played his first Twenty20 match for Kent against Somerset. His best season came in 2021, when he was instrumental in Kent's victory to win the T20 Blast. Because of his outstanding 58 runs off just 28 balls in the last game of the series, Cox was voted Player of the Match. Apart from his achievements at home, Cox was a member of the Oval Invincibles team during The Hundred's first season in 2021.
Additionally, Cox is an Australian citizen, which allows him to play cricket in Australia during the off-season. He played Sydney Grade Cricket for Mosman Cricket Club during the 2021/22 English winter, having played for Eastern Suburbs. The Big Bash League (BBL) noticed his talent and signed him in December 2021, to replace Hobart Hurricanes’ injured player for the opening game of the 2021–2022 season.
Cox has scored 1385 runs in 65 matches at an average of 34.62 while playing for two teams in the Vitality Blast, as of October 2024. His highest score has been 94 runs, while his strike rate in this league has been 144.87.
