Until then, it is good bye from our side. SEE YA!
Tim Southee (Captain, New Zealand): We were very good in all three areas of play today. Finn's innings was full of class and allowed people around him to play comfortably. Also GP's (Glenn Phillips) knock was as if he was playing a different pitch. For the bowling, the first few overs were crucial for us, which allowed the spinners to then come in and pick up wickets at regular intervals
Jos Buttler (captain, England): Credit to New Zealand, they outplayed us. It was a good toss to win. Fin Allen and Phillip, they had a partnership and took the game away from us. Needed a fast start and good powerplay, but couldn't get any partnerships going. With the two right handers, it was a hard match-up for him. Deighted for him (Gus Atkinson), he will get more exposure. His performances have been brilliant.
Finn Allen (Player of the Match): The way they bowled, we tried to push through the middle and take it deep. I have been playing well, worked on holding my shape, instead of being too reckless. Didn't know what a good score was (on this pitch). It was more watch the ball and react.
New Zealand win by 74 runs and are in the series by a margin of 2-1
England: 128 all out
Jos Buttler: 40(21b) | Moeen Ali: 26(16b) Kyle Jamieson: 3/23 (4 overs) | Ish Sodhi: 3/33 (4 overs)
It was a clinical bowling performance from New Zealand, who showed what they are able to do. They first outplayed England with the bat in hand and then completed the job by picking up wickets at regular intervals with the ball.
The innings didn't have the best of the starts as Will Jacks was dismissed early after showing glimpses of what he is capable of doing. Dawid Malan replaced him at the crease and it was a real struggle for him as he scored an 11-ball-2. Jonny Bairstow also couldn't get to grips with the pace of the surface and so did Harry Brook.
But the two batters who were able to fight back were English captain, Jos Buttler and hometown hero, Moeen Ali. Both the batters brought out their shots and scored runs at a good pace. But tragedy struck them soon as both the set batters were dismissed and then the tail didn't stay around for long.
It was a comprehensive bowling performance from the BlackCaps. Ish Sodhi and Kyle Jamieson paired up and picked up 6 wickets between themselves. Mitchell Santner picked up two wickets and Matt Henry along with Tim Southe picked up a wicket each to assist the other bowlers. Let's now go down and see what the player of the match and the captains have to say.
18.3 Tim Southee to Adil Rashid, OUT! Southee concludes the proceedings! New Zealand win by 74 runs! Slower ball full around the off-stump. Rashid hoicks across the line and miscues it straight up in the air. Seifert comes in with the gloves and completes a comfortable grab.
Adil Rashid c Tim Seifert b Tim Southee 8(8b,0x4,0x6)
18.2 Tim Southee to Adil Rashid, short of a length angling in. Pulls it off the inside half of the bat to deep backward square leg
18.1 Tim Southee to Gus Atkinson, slower ball on a good length. Forces it down to long-on
Jamieson, who is playing after a long time for the Kiwis, comes back and how. Picks up three wickets and has played a key role, filling in for Lockie Ferguson and doing an impressive job.
