Christian McCaffrey is an American professional football running back for the San Francisco 49ers of the National Football League. He was selected eighth overall pick of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Carolina Panthers. After playing with the Panthers for 5.5 seasons, he was traded to the San Francisco 49ers. Born on June 7, 1996, in Castle Rock, Colorado, McCaffrey went to Valor Christian High School where he played football on the school's team. He played a variety of positions such as running back, wide receiver, punter, and cornerback. He was very athletic from his early days and even competed in track and was a formidable sprinter. McCaffrey then went to Stanford University where he played for the Cardinals' football team for three years before entering the NFL draft in 2017.


The Colorado native has improved his game year by year and has led the 49ers from the front in the 2023 NFL season. He played a crucial role in San Francisco's Super Bowl. For McCaffrey however, Super Bowl LVIII against the Kansas City Chiefs was his first appearance which took place on February 11, 2024. The 49ers handed him the ball 22 times and he had 80 rushing yards. He also had 8 receptions for another 80 yards. Even after having a huge game, the Chiefs still came out on top 25-22 and denied McCaffrey his first ring.
