Living up to the hype, he won the first Grand Slam of the season, defeating Daniil Medvedev 3-6 3-6 6-4 6-4 6-3 in the final of the 2024 Australian Open. Later on in the year, he beat Taylor Fritz in straight sets to win the 2024 US Open.

He reached his first Grand Slam semifinal at the 2023 Wimbledon Open, where he defeated Roman Safiullin. However, he was knocked out by Novak Djokovic in the semifinals. He became the third player ever to defeat Djokovic twice in 12 days, along with Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray.

Jannik Sinner entered professional tournaments at the age of 16, despite having little success as a junior. After cracking the top 100, making his first ATP semifinal, and winning the Next Generation ATP Finals in Milan in 2019, he was named the ATP Newcomer of the Year.
