Alex DeBrincat is a professional American ice hockey player who is a right winger for the Detroit Red Wings in the National Hockey League (NHL). He was born in Farmington Hills, Michigan, on December 18, 1997.

Alex DeBrincat began playing hockey at a young age and quickly developed into one of the most skilled players in his age group. He was drafted by the Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) in the second round of the 2014 OHL Entry Draft.

Alex had an outstanding junior career with the Otters. In his first season, he was named CHL Rookie of the Year after scoring 51 goals and 104 points. The following season, he led the OHL in scoring 51 goals and 101 points.

Alex was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in the second round (39th overall) of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. He made his NHL debut in the 2017-18 season and quickly established himself as one of the most dynamic scorers in the league.

He scored 28 goals and 52 points as a rookie and was named to the NHL All-Rookie Team. Alex continued improving his scoring output in his subsequent NHL seasons. In the 2021-22 season, he scored a career-high 41 goals and finished with 78 points.

In the 2021-22 season, Alex was traded to the Ottawa Senators. He played in all 82 games for Ottawa, where he recorded 66 points (27 goals, 39 assists). After the 2022–2023 season, Alex became a restricted free agent, but he showed no interest in signing a contract extension with the Senators. He was then traded to the Detroit Red Wings on July 9, 2023.

Alex has quickly become one of the most exciting players in the NHL. He is also a skilled playmaker and has a good hockey IQ.
