That's it from the Qualifier of BBL 2025. Hobart Hurricanes qualify for the final. Sydney Sixers to play the Challenger. Thank you for joining us. This is Meeth Agrawal, signing off alongside by co-commentator Karthik Raj.
Riley Meredith (Player of the Match): "It was a gutsy batting performance. (Caleb Jewell) Jewelly and Ben McDermott weren't pretty but they got the job done for us. They just did what the team needed and got us to a decent total. (On being rested against the Melbourne Stars) Had to repay the faith to the team after sitting out at the MCG. It was a pretty cramped up period for us and we had a home final. Unbelievable atmosphere. It is going to be big for Hobart and big for Tasmania. The next few days just take it easy. Have a golf trip and then get into training and analysis."
10:53 PM Local Time (5:23 PM IST): Hobart Hurricanes win by 12 runs.
Ben McDermott - 42 (31) | Cameron Gannon - 2/10 Jordan Silk - 57 (44) | Jafer Chohan - 2/28
HOBART HURRICANES QUALIFY FOR THE BBL 2025 Finals. What a bowling performance from the Hurricanes to defend a below-par total of 173 runs. They have never ever secured the BBL title and they are doing everything they can to script history this time. The crowd at the Ninja Stadium is loving it as they will now host the finals as well. The Hurricanes remain unbeaten at their home this season. What a record to have before entering the grand finale.
Riley Meredith delivered a POTM performance ripping through the Sixers' top order with raw pace. Him and Cameron Gannon reduced Sydney Sixers to 5/3 inside the first three overs. It was pretty much a catching game for the visitors after that. Jordan Silk and Kurtis Patterson got a 75-run partnership for the fourth wicket but Gannon sent the latter back as soon as he got back into the attack.
Silk reached his half-century and got good support from Lachlan Shaw but they just couldn't recover from the early blows they received. Chris Jordan and Nathan Ellis were exceptional at the death with their pace off deliveries to help Hurricanes enter the BBL final after 7 years.
Earlier in the game, Mitchell Owen helped the Hurricanes got off to a flying start. Although, they struggled a bit after losing him, Ben McDermott (42), Caleb Jewell (40) and a late cameo from Tim David helped them post a competitive total.
The Hurricanes will now wait for the other two fixtures to see who plays them in the finale. Meanwhile, Sydney Sixers still have a chance to make it to the finals. They will play the winner of Eliminator between Sydney Thunder and Melbourne Stars.

19.6 Chris Jordan to Ben Dwarshuis, FOUR BUT THE HURRICANES ARE THROUGH TO THE FINAL HERE! Full delivery, Dwarshuis belts it down the ground for a boundary but the Sixers fall short by 12 runs as the Nathan Ellis-led Hobart Hurricanes are through for the final right here at the Bellerive Oval!
19.5 Chris Jordan to Ben Dwarshuis, full and angling away, Dwarshuis wants to go big over mid-off but he misses it.
19.4 Chris Jordan to Lachlan Shaw, yorker angling in, Shaw misses out on the flick shot and there is a huge roar from the crowd. Leg-bye taken.
18 from 3. Shaw needs to dispatch everything over the ropes now!
19.3 Chris Jordan to Ben Dwarshuis, full-toss angling away, Dwarshuis hacks it to mid-off. Single taken.
19.2 Chris Jordan to Ben Dwarshuis, full and angling away, Dwarshuis swings it to long-on and tries to get back for a second run. Good throw to Matthew Wade who whips off the bails and we will go upstairs to check the run-out! The replays confirm that Dwarshuis just about made the crease. So, the decision is NOT OUT!
