5:33 pm local time (7:03 pm IST): So that does it from this match in Abu Dhabi! We have one more spot left to grab, as far as the playoffs are concerned. Which of the three teams in contention make it - Abu Dhabi Knight Riders, Gulf Giants or Dubai Capitals? We will have to wait till tomorrow to find out, but now, you can switch to the final T20I of the series between India and England, happening in Mumbai, by clicking here. Or else, you can catch the action from the final group stage game of the SA20, right here. It's MI Cape Town taking on Pretoria Capitals at Newlands. For now, this is the pair of Karthik Raj and Bidipto taking your leave. Keep following Sportskeeda!
Tom Kohler-Cadmore (Player of the Match, 91* off 52 balls): We've tried but not got to the finals before, but I'm relieved that we got it done this time. Bowlers sometimes get the better of me, but when they don't, I definitely like to dominate. I was told to hit the sight screen by my coach, so I like to go straight. It's always important to have partners at the other end who complement you and all three of my partners today were good. Unfortunate that I ran Jason Roy out, but thankfully, Matthew Wade and I knocked the runs off.
Tim Southee (Sharjah Warriorz captain): I think a week back, we were looking glum. But we've pulled up our socks really well. We've had players come and go, but we've really gelled well. Matthew Wade is a great addition to the squad! Jason Roy has cooled down now, no worries!
Nicholas Pooran (MI Emirates Captain): "It was a very good track and the missed opportunities cost us. They played very well and our fielders didn't help as well. Yeah, obviously happy that we have qualified for the play-offs. We didn't turn up today if we are honest. Can't put another performance like this, it will be unacceptable."
Time for the post-match Presentation!
5:16 pm local time (6:46 pm IST): Sharjah Warriorz win by 8 wickets with 16 balls to spare!
Tom Kohler-Cadmore 91* (52) | Tim Southee - 1/22 (4) Tom Banton 84* (51) | Fazalhaq Farooqi - 1/22 (3)
We knew that it was a good batting wicket, but we did not know that MI Emirates, being the defending champions, would be so low on intensity! So much so, that Sharjah Warriorz would come and romp home, as if they were under no pressure!
The explosion started with Johnson Charles and Tom Kohler-Cadmore at the top, and continued when Jason Roy came to the crease at the fall of the first wicket. There was a moment of blip in the middle when Kohler-Cadmore's decision to take a risky run cost Roy his wicket, but after that, Matthew Wade and he ensured that the job would be done and with ease!
Kohler-Cadmore hammered 7 fours and 5 sixes while Wade went at a strike rate of 176.00! Whether it was seam or spin, the bowling got beaten black and blue!
Neither the bowling, nor the fielding, was up to the mark. And neither the captain nor the coach of MI Emirates was impressed with this performance!
So, Sharjah Warriorz have now become the third team to qualify for the playoffs, their first in the history of the ILT20!
17.2 Muhammad Rohid Khan to Tom Kohler-Cadmore, FOUR! KOHLER-CADMORE FINISHES IT OFF IN STYLE! Full and angling in, Kohler-Cadmore creams it down the ground for a boundary as Sharjah Warriorz seal an eight-wicket win with 16 balls to spare. What a way to qualify for the play-offs!
17.1 Fazalhaq Farooqi to Tom Kohler-Cadmore, slower delivery on a length outside-off, Kohler-Cadmore tries to cut but he misses it.
Alzarri Joseph [3.0-0-39-0] comes back into the attack.
So we have another over. But only a couple of runs are left to win for the Warriorz. Kohler-Cadmore may do it himself!
