That brings us to the end our coverage for another ILT20 contest. Like always it was a pleasure bringing all the live coverage from this encounter. Till the next, this is myself (Arya Sekhar Chakraborty) signing off. Goodnight!
Nicholas Pooran is the MI Emirates captain and also the Player of the Match: I have played T20 cricket for a long time. I have messed up situations before. I had to get the job done and whatever happened I had to be there. Yeah definitely, more experienced now so I understand the scoreboard better. I got a chance there and it worked out in my favour. It's about adjusting yourself and absorb the pressure. This knock was for Polly. These two points matters a lot. We have started to get there. In T20 tournaments, it's important to get the momentum. There are mistakes we are making, we need to chat and get that sorted but we are heading in the right direction. The planning has been great to be honest. I have been doing this for a while. I have embraced it, the guys have been really supportive. We have a young group. Lot of the guys wants to win. This is actually one of my favourite grounds and hopefully it continues.
James Vince (Gulf Giants captain): Yeah the score looked good at the halfway stage. Myself dropping Pooran and then he just blazed away. Yeah he is capable of doing that, to give a player of his quality a couple of chances can hurt you and it did today for us. We have to look at the table and see where we are. We will have to give a crack again tomorrow and see what happens from there on.
Tom Banton gets the Green Belt from his skipper Nicholas Pooran for becoming the highest run scorer in the tournament.
Time for the post-match presentation ceremony with Alan Wilkins
MI Emirates won by 5 wickets (with five deliveries to spare)
Nicholas Pooran 58*(37) | Muhammad Rohid Khan 2/36(4) James Vince 86(50) | Aayan Afzal Khan 2/9(2)
It turned out to be a stunning comeback from Nicholas Pooran after struggling on in the earlier part of the innings and he has taken the MI Emirates over the finish line with five deliveries left. Pooran had scored just 8 runs off the first 20 deliveries and then went onto score 50 off the next 17 deliveries. Romario Shepherd gave him good support and eventually, MI Emirates won the game pretty comfortably in the end.
Andre Fletcher and Muhammad Waseem started off in a flying fashion scoring 44 runs in the first four overs. Waseem in particular took the charge and smashed a 10 ball 26 while Fletcher also looked in good touch. However, from there on, the momentum shifted towards the Gulf Giants. Aayan Afzal Khan bagged two crucial wickets of Waseem and Tom Banton. From a comfortable position, the Emirates lost three wickets in quick succession and the required rate kept climbing at an alarming rate.
When Andre Fletcher departed in the 11th over for a run ball 31, it looked bleak for the Emirates but Nicholas Pooran was still out in the middle and was joined by the newcomer Bevon Jacobs. Pooran struggled to get the timing in the first half of his innings. However just when it mattered, he turned it on like a boss and kept plundering boundaries at will. He needed one shot to get going and that's all he needed. Following the departure of Jacobs, it was Romario Shepherd who gave him great support and scored a quickfire unbeaten 23 off just 9 deliveries which included a couple of fours and a six.
Pooran just went hammers and tongs and went on to remain unbeaten on 58 off just 37 deliveries which included six fours and three sixes. They have more or less qualified to the next round due to their exceptional net run rate and it is unlikely that the other teams can reach them. Aayan Khan was the pick of the bowlers with two wickets to his name but just bowled a couple of overs. Stay tuned, we will be back with the presentation ceremony pretty soon.
19.1 Chris Jordan to Nicholas Pooran, SIX! Pooran finishes it off in style. Slower shorter length delivery a shade outside off, Pooran waits for it and swats it away well over the midwicket fence. MI Emirates win by 5 wickets with five deliveries to spare.
Chris Jordan will bowl the final over.

18.6 Mark Adair to Romario Shepherd, SIX! That has been smoked down the ground for a maximum. On a fuller-length well outside off, Shepherd loses his footing a bit but still goes through with the shot sending it well over long-off.
