Drake Maye is a rising star in the NFL, playing as a quarterback for the New England Patriots as of 2024. The former North Carolina Tar Heels quarterback was selected by the Patriots in the 2024 NFL Draft. Born on August 30, 2002, in Huntersville, North Carolina. He started his high school career at William A. Hough High School in Cornelius before transferring to Myers Park High School in Charlotte after his freshman year. A multi-sport athlete, Maye excelled in both football and basketball. As a junior, he set a school record with 3,512 passing yards and 50 touchdowns, earning All-Conference and All-District honors.
Maye was named The Charlotte Observer's 2019 Male Athlete of the Year and was later selected as a 2020 Under Armour All-American, despite missing his senior season due to the pandemic. Maye comes from a family rich in sports background, right from his parents, who both played college sports (his father Mark was a football player at UNC while his mother Aimee played basketball), to his three older brothers, who also had their moments in college sports as well.

Who are Drake Maye's brothers?
Drake Maye has three brothers: Luke, Cole, and Beau Maye. Drake is the youngest of four brothers. Luke and Beau were also basketball players at UNC, and the former won the 2017 national title after making a buzzer beater in the Elite Eight. Cole, another brother, pitched for the Florida Gators, who won the College World Series in 2017. Mason Rudolph and Maye's fathers played together at UNC; therefore, the two were childhood buddies. In the 1980s, Maye's father, Mark, was a quarterback for North Carolina (UNC) before playing briefly for the Raleigh-Durham Skyhawks and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Luke Maye
Luke Maye is the oldest of the four Maye brothers and he is the one who led his siblings by example. Following in his parents' footsteps, he took up sports at a young age and although he wanted to emulate his father and play football, his size was a factor in his father suggesting he should pursue basketball instead. He stands 6 feet 8 inches and weighs 240 pounds.
Luke attended the University of North Carolina (UNC) and played for the UNC Tar Heels basketball team during his time in college. In his freshman year, he was mostly on the bench with hardly any playtime. In his sophomore year, he would again be on the bench but get to play in most games, though he only managed to score ten points in three regular season games. However, his breakthrough year came as a junior, in which he got off to a great start and continued to play well, averaging 16.9 points per game and 10.1 rebounds per game by the end of the season. He continued in a similar fashion in his senior year as well, finishing with 14.9 points and 10.5 rebounds per game.
Luke entered the 2019 NBA Draft but went undrafted. He was then signed by the Milwaukee Bucks to their Summer League team and was later moved to their G-League affiliate. Since then, he has found himself playing in various basketball leagues all over the world, including the Italian, Spanish, and Turkish Leagues. Luke is a professional basketball player for the Nagoya Diamond Dolphins of the Japan Professional Basketball League as of November 2024.
Cole Maye
Cole Maye, the second brother, found success on the baseball diamond. He pitched for the Florida Gators and was part of the 2017 team that won the College World Series. Cole's athletic journey didn't stop there; he also played for the Charlottesville TomSox in Virginia's Valley League. While he took a different path from football and basketball, Cole Maye is a graduate with a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Florida, where he won an NCAA baseball title with the Florida Gators. Although he attended Florida, Cole has remained supportive of his brothers' careers at UNC.
Beau Maye
Beau Maye, the third brother, followed Luke to UNC, walking onto the Tar Heels basketball team for the 2022–23 season. However, Beau's college basketball career was cut short, possibly due to recurring injuries, including nine knee surgeries during high school.
