Coco Gauff is an American professional tennis player, who is currently ranked No. 6 in singles, her career-high. Born on March 13, 2004, in Atlanta, Georgia, United States, Gauff won her first major singles title at the 2023 US Open by making a stunning come-from-behind after losing the first set to Aryna Sabalenka in the final. With the win, she became the first American teenager to win the US Open since Serena Williams in 1999.


Coco Gauff made her WTA tour debut at the Miami Open in March 2019. She won her first WTA singles title at the Linz Open in 2019 and has won seven singles titles in her career so far, including one Grand Slam. She won the 2023 Cincinnati Open, defeating Iga Świątek in the semifinals and Karolina Muchova in the finals.


In doubles, she has won nine titles to date. She made the final at the US Open in 2021, and the French Open in 2022 in doubles. She achieved her career-high ranking of World No. 1 in doubles after qualifying for the 2023 WTA Finals along with Jessica Pegulaand also became the first player to qualify in both disciplines in back-to-back years since Sara Errani. She, along with Pegula, won the 2023 Miami Open doubles title and became the first all-American duo to do so in 22 years. They defeated Leylah Fernandez and Taylor Townsend in the final.


Her success continued as she started the season by winning the 2024 ASB Classic, defeating Elina Svitolina in the final. She reached her first major semifinal at the 2024 Australian Open, where she lost to Aryna Sabalenka. Gauff finished as a quarterfinalist at the 2024 Dubai Tennis Championships. Gauff was also a brilliant junior player. She is a former world No. 1 junior. She won her first junior Grand Slam singles title at the French Open in 2018. Her second junior Grand Slam title came in doubles, at the US Open in 2018.
