Fredderick Edmund VanVleet Sr. is a professional American basketball guard for the Houston Rockets in the 2025 NBA season. After not getting drafted in the 2016 NBA Draft, VanVleet signed a two-way contract with the Toronto Raptors. Later in July, he signed a multi-year deal with the Toronto Raptors and VanVleet helped the Raptors win the NBA Championship in 2019. The 2021-22 NBA season was the breakout season for VanVleet, as he received his first All-Star selection. He averaged 20.3 points, 6.7 assists and 1.7 steals per game in that season. In June 2023, Fred VanVleet refused to accept the extension offer from the Toronto Raptors and signed with the Houston Rockets in 2023. In the 2024-25 NBA season, VanVleet, along with Jalen Green and Alpren Sengun, has led the team to its first playoff run in five seasons.

Before joining the NBA, VanVleed went to Wichita State in 2012. As a first-year student at college, Fred led his college team to the 2013 NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Tournament. During his junior season (2014-15), Fred averaged 13.6 points and 5.2 assists. As a senior, Fred suffered from a hamstring strain in late October, due to which he missed four games of the regular season. After sustainng the injury, he played for three minutes in a match against the Charleston Southern Buccaneers in November. Fred had a poor performance in the next matches, which resulted in many defeats.
