Giannis Antetokounmpo was born in Athens, Greece, and is popularly known as the “Greek Freak.” Antetokounmpo is a two-time MVP and an NBA champion. He is considered by many as one of the best players in the league and currently plays as a power forward for the Milwaukee Bucks.

Antetokounmpo was picked 15th overall in the 2013 NBA draft by the Bucks and was named the NBA Finals MVP in 2021 after he helped his team overcome a 0-2 deficit in the Finals against Devin Booker and the Phoenix Suns. The same year, Antetokounmpo was honored as one of the best players in NBA history by being named to the NBA 75th Anniversary Team.

Besides being a two-time league MVP, Antetokounmpo is also a seven-time All-Star and has been named on the All-NBA First Team on five occasions. He also won the Defensive Player of the Year in 2020 and has been named on the All-Defensive First Team four times. For the 2023-24 NBA season, Giannis Antetokounmpo averaged 30.4 points, 11.5 rebounds, 6.5 assists, 1.2 steals, and 1.1 blocks per game.

Moreover, he credits his mother for signing the $228,000,000 contract with the Milwaukee Bucks in 2021. He even dedicated his first MVP trophy to her.

Giannis Antetokounmpo’s father is the late Nigerian footballer Charles Antetokounmpo.

Giannis Antetokounmpo stated that his father had a huge role in his upbringing. He also mentioned that his father actually wanted him to become a footballer like him. However, he still supported him in his dreams of becoming a basketball player. Unfortunately, his father passed away because of a heart attack on September 29, 2017.
