Temetrius Jamel "Ja" Morant is an American professional player, and as of November 2024, he is playing for the Memphis Grizzlies. He was born on August 10, 1999, in Dalzell, South Carolina, United States, to Tee and Jamie Morant. He has a daughter named Kairi Morant.

Morant graduated from Crestwood High School in Sumter, South Carolina, where he scored a total of 1,679 points in his high school career. He attended Murray State University and joined the Murray State Racers men's basketball team in 2017. Morant earned numerous awards, including the Lute Olson Award, the Bob Cousy Award, the NCAA assists leader, the OVC Player of the Year, and the OVC tournament MVP, all in 2019. He played two seasons with the Racers and declared for the 2019 NBA Draft after the 2019 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament, forgoing his remaining college eligibility. Morant was selected by the Grizzlies as the second overall pick in the first round of the 2019 NBA draft. He was named the NBA Most Improved Player in 2022 and the NBA Rookie of the Year in 2020. Additionally, he was an NBA All-Star in both 2022 and 2023.

Morant's lower back now showcases Kobe Bryant's jersey number 24 along with the Mamba Mentality logo. The remaining artwork, which captures the player's basketball journey, features the logo of his high school, college, and NBA team, along with his jersey number 12 in Grizzlies. Additionally, it includes the phrase "Life is a gamble", framed by four aces and two dice, according to the Marca. He also has tattoos on his front torso, where he inked his birth year which is 1999, doves, crosses, a 100 emoji, and an eye in the middle of his chest.
