
Rui Hachimura is a professional Japanese basketball player who plays in the NBA for the Los Angeles Lakers as of April 2025. Hachimura was born on February 8, 1998, in Toyama, Japan. In his childhood, he used to play both basketball and baseball as a catcher and a pitcher. He played basketball in Japan throughout his high school years and for the Gonzaga Bulldogs in the United States. He also represented Japan in the 2013 FIBA Asia Under-16 Championship in Iran.
