Tyler Herro is a point guard for the Miami Heat who was drafted with the 13th overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. Coming out of the University of Kentucky after his freshman season, he was regarded as one of the best shooters in his draft class.
As a rookie in the 2019-2020 season, Herro made an immediate impact for the Heat. He averaged 13.5 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game while shooting 39.1% from three-point range. He led the Miami Heat to the NBA Finals in his first season. The Heat lost to the Los Angeles Lakers, but Herro was named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team.
In his second season, Herro continued his development into a critical piece of the Heat's rotation. He posted averages of 15.1 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.4 assists while hitting 36.0% of his threes. His versatile scoring ability allowed him to thrive whether starting or coming off the bench.
The 2022 season represented a major breakthrough for Herro. He was outstanding with 20.7 points, and 5.0 rebounds and was named NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year. Unfortunately, his season ended early after he suffered a right-hand injury late in the regular season. The injury kept him sidelined for the Heat's playoff run that ended in the Eastern Conference Finals.
Now entering his fourth NBA season in 2023, expectations remain high for the 23-year-old Herro. In 8 games played, Herro is averaging 22.9 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game.
