Alex Tyson Carey, born on August 27, 1991, in Loxton, South Australia, is a professional cricketer who represents the national men's team as a wicket-keeper-batsman in Test cricket and One Day Internationals (ODIs). Growing up, Carey played both cricket and Australian rules football, playing for Glenelg in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL). In 2009, he represented South Australia in the AFL Under-18 Championships and later joined the Greater Western Sydney Giants in the Australian Football League (AFL).

After moving away from Australian rules football, Carey began playing cricket for the Glenelg Cricket Club in all formats. Due to his consistent form, he earned a spot in South Australia's List A and first-class teams. In January 2018, he made his international debut for Australia in an ODI match against England in Brisbane, followed by his T20I debut the next month against New Zealand in Sydney. In the 2021–22 Ashes series, he made his Test debut as a replacement for former captain Tim Paine. He was also included in the Australian teams that clinched the Cricket World Cup and ICC World Test Championship.

Where does Alex Carey live?

Alex Carey resides in Adelaide, Australia, with his wife Eloise and their two children, Louis Robert and Clementine Rose. As of January 2025, the exact location and full details of their home remain unavailable in the public domain. Previously, they lived in a three-bedroom home at 38 French St, in Netherby, an inner-southern suburb of Adelaide, Australia. In 2017, Carey and Eloise bought a 685-square-meter property. After the purchase, they collaborated with Heritage Building Group to build a three-bedroom house with a backyard designed to include space for cricket, according to realestate.com.au.

In December 2024, Carey and Eloise sold their house for $2.75 million at auction. The auction began at 10:30 a.m. in front of a crowd of around 150 onlookers. While Carey was unable to attend due to his commitments with the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy series, his wife kept him updated on the proceedings via phone throughout the event.
