Former Indian cricketer and Bharat Ratna awardee Sachin Tendulkar has been an influential figure around the world since his rise in international cricket in the early 1990s. Apart from his cricket, he is popular as a down-to-earth gentleman, despite owning riches and having an admirable car collection.
Tendulkar had a passion for cars since his teenage years. He has been able to own a few and be one of the best car collectors in the Indian sports fraternity. From his first Maruti 800 to the luxurious cars he owned like the Ferrari and the various BMWs, there is plenty to talk about.
Here is a video of him talking about some of it:

A dream car in the 1980s and early 90s, the Maruti Suzuki 800 was Sachin Tendulkar’s first-ever self-purchased car. In one of the interviews, he described this car as ‘a dream car back in the day’. The car is equipped with a 796cc engine that can produce up to 37 bhp. Not to forget, it was one of the earliest cars in India that had air-conditioning available. The Master Blaster sold this car a few years back and later on asked his fans to find the current owner of his car.

The BMW X5M, a modified version of BMW X5, was imported by Tendulkar as it was not sold in India. The 2002 model has a 4395cc V8 engine with a capacity of 347 bhp and 480 Nm torque. It takes about seven seconds for this beast to speed up from 0 to 100 kph. It boasts of a top speed of 249 kph, keeping in mind the safety purposes.

While this car is not uncommon among BMW owners in India, the former cricketer has ‘ST’ embroidered in the interiors as shown in the picture above. This ‘personalization’ makes the car unique for him.

The first-ever BMW M6 Gran Coupe delivered in India was in the name of Sachin Tendulkar. Continuing his affection for having something unique in his garage, the ‘Frozen silver’ car is the only one in the country. This four-wheeler has a V8 engine with the ability of producing 560 bhp and 680 nm torque.

BMW celebrated 30 years of their M5 series by manufacturing 300 units of ‘BMW M5 30 Jahre’. Unsurprisingly, there is only one such car in India and it belongs to Sachin Tendulkar. This unique car has a 4.4-litre turbocharged V8 engine that boasts of 600 bhp and 700 Nm torque. It picks up pace quite quickly and can rock a speed of 100 kph from 0 kph in only 3.9 seconds. Sachin Tendulkar launched the BMW i8 in India. Although he launched the car in white, BMW made a few customizations for the man himself. He chose to own a red car and has been clicked driving it on the streets of Mumbai. The BMW i8 has a 1.5-litre 3-cylinder engine that produces 357 bhp and 570 Nm torque.

Nissan GT-R Egoist of ‘The Godzilla’, as it is nicknamed, is a limited-edition version of the Nissan GT-R. Only 39 such cars exist in the world and there is just one in India. Tendulkar’s Egoist had a Wald-body kit, making it a hit among car nuts. The reason that ‘had’ was used in the earlier sentence is that the former cricketer sold this beast to a Mumbai car collector in 2017. The car has a 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6 engine generating 562 bhp and 637 Nm torque. It was known to pick up from 0 kph to 100 kph in 2.9 seconds.

The car was presented to Tendulkar by Michael Schumacher. The car had a 3.6-litre V8 engine producing 395 bhp and 372 Nm torque. The car made big news when the Indian authorities asked Tendulkar to pay a duty of INR 1.1 crore on the car that was priced INR 75 lakh back then. The car twice again made news - once when it was sold to a Surat-based businessman and also when it was used in the Bollywood film ‘Ferrari ki Sawaari’.
