The Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray was born in Bedford, Texas, and attended Allen High School in Allen, Texas. The Arizona Cardinals drafted him with the 1st overall pick from the 2019 NFL draft. A standout player since his school days, the 5 ft 10 signal caller won the Gatorade Football Player of the Year while also becoming the first player to be named Mr Texas Football twice for winning three straight state championships and going 42-0 in his high school career as a starter. Murray concluded his high school career by passing for more than 10,300 yards and rushing for 4,139 yards in 3 years. The former First-team All-Big 12 and First-team All-American committed to Texas A&M and started 3 games for the Aggies in 2015 before transferring to the University of Oklahoma. In his one year as a starter with the team, Murray won the AP College Football Player of the Year, Manning Award, Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year, and Davey’Obrien Award. Furthermore, he was also the recipient of the prestigious Heisman Trophy in 2018.

The Bedford native passed for more than 3,700 yards in each of his first three seasons since coming into the league. His best statistical year came in 2020 when he threw for a career-best (as of 2024) 3,971 yards to go along with 819 yards on the ground and 26 passing touchdowns (also a career-best). Murray became the first player to get drafted in the first round of two different sports (got selected 9th overall in the 2018 MLB Draft).
