Erik Johnson is an American defenseman, playing for the Philadelphia Flyers in the NHL as of January 2025. Born on March 21, 1988, in Bloomington, Minnesota, Johnson was drafted first overall by the St. Louis Blues in the 2006 NHL Draft. He has enjoyed a successful career with the Blues, Colorado Avalanche, and Buffalo Sabres, winning the Stanley Cup with the Avalanche in 2022. Over the years, Johnson has represented the United States in various international tournaments, including the 2010 Winter Olympics. After a 13-season run with Colorado, he signed for the Buffalo Sabres in 2023 before joining the Flyers in 2024. Johnson has achieved several milestones in the NHL, such as playing his 1,000th NHL game in 2024.
