Evgenii Dadonov was drafted by the Florida Panthers in 2007 and joined them in 2009. He played in the AHL with the Rochester Americans before making his NHL debut. He was traded to the Carolina Hurricanes after struggling to secure a regular spot. After getting traded, Dadonov joined the Charlotte Checkers instead of playing with them.
