Dean Brownlie: A Brief Biography

Dean Brownlie Biography

Born on 30 July 1984, Dean Graham Brownlie is a right-handed batsman for the New Zealand team.

He was in born in Australia and later moved to New Zealand and hence played for New Zealand’s cricket team.

He is an excellent batsman with expertise in all three formats which made him qualify into New Zealand’s cricket team.

Background

Initially, he played both cricket and football in which he represented Mount Lawley District cricket club in the WACA District cricket competition and in West Perth Football club.

He had the excellent opportunity to represent Western Australian Cricket team in both under 17 and under 19 level.

He then went on to play New Zealand domestic cricket, and has racked up consistent performances for Canterbury. He scored 86* off just 73 balls in his 2nd List A match.

He has played for New Zealand, Canterbury, Kent 2nd XI, New Zealand A, Western Australia Under-17s, Western Australia Under-19s.

Debut

His Test debut was against Zimbabwe in November 2011 at Queen’s Sports Club where he got a score of 63.

His T20 debut for New Zealand was against Pakistan in 2010 where he batted at number 3 but failed to impress and prove his worth.

His ODI debut was against Zimbabwe at Oval University in February 2012 where he could not perform up to the expectations.

Rise to Glory

His career took a leap with the tour to Australia in December 2011 where he scored 196 runs in just 4 innings including two fifties.

He also helped New Zealand draw with Australia in the series, with the final tally reading 1-1.

Low Points

His major problem has he always had a great start but wasn’t able to carry on and get huge scores.
