Artemi Panarin is the alternate captain for the New York Rangers, as of March 2025. He was born on October 30, 1991, in Korkino, Russia. Panarin started his professional career in the KHL with HC Vityaz before making his NHL debut with the Chicago Blackhawks in 2015. He won the Calder Memorial Trophy as the NHL’s top rookie.

In 2017, Panarin was traded to the Columbus Blue Jackets, where he set franchise records for single-season points with 82 in 2017–18 and 87 in 2018–19. He signed a seven-year contract with the Rangers worth $81.5 million in 2019. He had a career-high 95 points in his first season. During the 2023–24 season, Panarin set a franchise record with a 15-game point streak to start the season.
