Mitchell Marner, born on May 5, 1997, is a Canadian professional ice hockey right winger and alternate captain for the Toronto Maple Leafs in the National Hockey League (NHL). Selected fourth overall by the Maple Leafs in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, Marner has had an impressive career till now. Marner's career with the Maple Leafs began in the 2016–17 season, making a significant impact and earning recognition as the NHL's Rookie of the Month for January 2017. He set records for assists by a rookie in a season, and his line with William Nylander and Auston Matthews became one of the most prolific rookie trios. In subsequent seasons, Marner continued to excel, setting career highs and earning accolades. Notably, he signed a six-year, $65.418 million contract with the Maple Leafs in 2019.

The 2022–23 season showcased Marner's excellence, leading the team in scoring and achieving a franchise-best 23-game point streak. He finished the season as a finalist for the Frank J. Selke Trophy and played a crucial role in the Leafs winning their first playoff series since 2004, defeating the Tampa Bay Lightning.
