The Slammy Awards, established in 1986 by the WWE (formerly WWF), are a unique concept within the world of professional wrestling. Similar to prestigious awards shows like the Oscars or Grammys, the Slammys recognize and celebrate the achievements of Superstars, moments, and matches that have captivated the WWE Universe (fans) throughout the year. Though not held annually, the Slammy Awards remain a beloved tradition for the WWE Universe.
However, unlike traditional award shows, the Slammys have a playful twist. Categories range from the serious ("Superstar of the Year") to the lighthearted ("Meltdown of the Year"). Winners receive a statuette depicting a wrestler holding another aloft, a fitting symbol for the world of professional wrestling. While the early Slammys featured celebrity presenters and musical performances, the current iteration focuses heavily on fan participation. The WWE Universe votes online to decide who takes home the coveted Slammy trophies. This fan-driven aspect adds a layer of excitement and engagement, allowing viewers to directly influence the outcome.

WWE Slammy Awards made a much-anticipated return to WWE. WWE announced the return of the awards on March 22nd and this year, the power is entirely in the hands of the WWE Universe – the fans! Voting kicked off on March 22nd and ran through March 27th. Fans have to cast their vote for their favorite WWE Superstars, Matches, and Moments from the past year. The electrifying ceremony to reveal the winners was held live from WWE World on April 7th. Cathy Kelley and Big E had co-hosted the festivities.
