About NFL Week 6 Schedule 2024-25
Week 5 certainly raised the fire alarms for two preseason Super Bowl contenders, the Cincinnati Bengals and the Los Angeles Rams, as both have failed to recover from their slow start and fell to 1-4. In contrast, the two teams that started 3-0, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Seattle Seahawks have come back crashing down to earth after taking a loss in each of their last two outings.
The NFL week 6 schedule will again see 28 teams in action while 4 teams will have a bye week for the second week running.
Game on Thursday, October 10
San Francisco 49ers @ Seattle Seahawks
The NFL schedule week 6 gives us the first game of the week between two divisional rivals, the San Francisco 49ers and the Seattle Seahawks. Both are playing inconsistent football through five weeks of the season and neither has separated themselves much from the rest of their divisional opponents. Only one game separates these two teams going into this week 6 matchup. The good news for Seattle and San Francisco is that neither of their remaining two divisional opponents has been able to perform consistently either.
Games on Sunday, October 13
Arizona Cardinals @ Green Bay Packers
One of the more important games on Sunday from the context of conference standings is this week 6 matchup between the Arizona Cardinals and the Green Bay Packers. While only one game differentiates these squads from each other in the NFC, divisional standings are where things get interesting. Even at 2-3, Arizona is just one game out of being a divisional leader, whereas even with a winning record (3-2), Green Bay sits dead last in a loaded NFC North. While Kyler Murray and the boys have looked anything but consistent, Matt LaFleur’s coaching has elevated a Packers team that has seen inconsistent play from their star signal caller, Jordan Love.
The winner of this game will carry a potentially big advantage into the remainder of the season, especially if tiebreakers come into play for the postseason spots.
Washington Commanders @ Baltimore Ravens
No one would have penciled this matchup back in May, when the official schedule release took place as one team almost reached the Super Bowl last season while the other one finished with the second-worst record in the league in 2023. However, rookie signal caller Jayden Daniels' otherworldly performance through the first five weeks (8 total touchdowns to just 2 interceptions and a league-leading 77.1% completion percentage) and Lamar Jackson’s own MVP-worthy play has made this a mouth-watering contest for fans. After starting 0-2, Lamar and the Ravens have strung together three straight wins to sit atop the AFC North while the NFC East leaders Commanders have not lost a game since week 1.
Detroit Lions @ Dallas Cowboys
In what could be the game of the week, the Detroit Lions will go up against America’s team, the Dallas Cowboys in the late afternoon slot of week 6 NFL schedule. After starting the season 1-2, Dallas got back to winning ways by defeating New York Giants and Pittsburgh Steelers in back-to-back weeks. On the flip side, the 3-1 Detroit Lions got their explosive offense from the last two seasons (league-leading 13,172 yards of total offense between 2022 and 2023 via Statmuse) back when facing the Seattle Seahawks in week 4 MNF. Detroit and Dallas are sitting second in their respective divisions going into this week 6 matchup and a loss here would only put more separation between them and the divisional leaders. Dating back to last season’s wild-card round, the Cowboys have lost three straight games at ‘Jerry World’.
Game on Monday, October 14
Buffalo Bills @ New York Jets
One game separates these AFC East foes as they lock horns in a Monday Night Football showdown at MetLife Stadium. The preseason media darling New York Jets and Aaron Rodgers have been anything but the juggernauts that everyone thought they would be going into the year. The Bills and Josh Allen hype train which had taken the NFL world by fire has seemingly fallen off the rails in the last two weeks after getting stomped by the Baltimore Ravens in week 4 and losing to Houston in week 5 respectively. Both teams have playoff aspirations and their best road to reach there comes via division. The New England Patriots' rebuilding phase and the Miami Dolphins' carousel at QB position have made the AFC East one of the weakest divisions in the league. A win here could go a long way in determining who comes out at the top in the East come January.
Bye Week Teams
As per the week 6 NFL schedule, the Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Rams, Miami Dolphins, and Minnesota Vikings will all get an extra week of rest and preparation as these teams have a bye week in week 6 of the 2024-25 NFL season.
