Week 1 which is now in the books saw everything from Caleb Williams getting his 1st win in his debut to the Patriots upsetting Joe Burrow-led Bengals while Falcons’ and Browns’ offenses lay an egg. However, if history is to be believed, week 1 always acts as an anomaly and the picture of where each team stands becomes more clear after 2 weeks worth of football.

Moving along to the matchups of the NFL week 2 schedule, there are quite a few interesting clashes that we will take a look at in detail further below, but things will get underway with the Thursday Night Football game between AFC East rivals Buffalo Bills and the Miami Dolphins, both of whom won their opening games.

Game on Thursday, September 12

An encounter that could be a thrilling affair when the Buffalo Bills take on the Miami Dolphins. These two are the teams to beat in the AFC East and both will be fired up after winning their week 1 games with a comeback. Both Josh Allen and Tua Tagovailoa needed some time to get into the rhythm, but once they were in their zone, the Cardinals and Jaguars stood no chance in the 2nd half against them. The Dolphins' defense, which gave up 17 points in the first half, basically shut down Trevor Lawrence and Co. in the 2nd half, which gave the offense a chance to put up points on the board. On the other hand, the Bills after starting 3-17, went on to win a thriller in Buffalo on the back of Josh Allen scoring 4 total touchdowns. Both teams’ defense will need to start better in week 2 as both offenses have the firepower to take the game away from the other team instantly.

Games on Sunday, September 15

This week 2 game between the New Orleans Saints and Dallas Cowboys features two of the top 5 offenses from week 1. The Saints almost put a 50 burger on the Carolina Panthers with a scintillating performance from Derek Carr while the Cowboys humiliated the Browns on the back of their elite defense and managed to bring down Deshaun Watson 6 times while also intercepting 2 of his passes. This game will truly show whether week 1 performances of both the Saint's offense and the Cowboys’ defense were the result of the Panthers’ and the Browns’ poor play or not.

In what is probably the game of the week, we have the Cincinnati Bengals visiting the Kansas City Chiefs in week 2 of the 2024 NFL season. It will be another huge clash as Joe Burrow makes his way to Arrowhead Stadium where he has gotten the better of Patrick Mahomes more than once.

However, the Bengals’ confidence might be not as high as it has been in years past after losing to the Patriots’ in week 1, where the offense was only able to put up a mere 10 points. On the flip side, Kansas City who squeaked past Baltimore in a thrilling season opener will be playing their 2nd consecutive home game. But Bengals fans can hang their hats on the fact that Joe Burrow-led offense always starts the season cold but eventually gets hot as the year progresses.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Detroit Lions

The Bucs lost both games against the Lions last season, which included the NFC Divisional round. They will enter this matchup with a W already in their bag. Detroit will be eager to get better output on offense after coming out on top in overtime against the Rams, where Jared Goff-led offense was shut down in the 1st quarter. As for the Bucs, they will be hoping that Baker Mayfield continues his scintillating form going into week 2 after scorching the Commanders' defense in the prior week by putting up 4 touchdowns along with 289 yards.

Indianapolis Colts at Green Bay Packers

Both the Colts and the Packers are entering week 2 matchup coming off a tough loss against the Texans and Eagles respectively. Green Bay will enter this matchup without their starting QB Jordan Love, who got injured on the last drive of the Friday Night game. On the other hand, Anthony Richardson, who played his 1st game since last October, showed his big arm in his season debut against Houston. Jordan Love’s MCL sprain along with Richardson’s dual-threat ability makes Indy the favorite to come out victorious at Lambeau Field.
