About NFL Week 17 Schedule 2024-25

NFL Schedule 2024-25 Week 17
Detroit Lions against San Francisco 49ers in a rematch of the 2023-24 NFC Championship game

Week 17 of the 2024 NFL season is one of the best times to be a football fan. For one, it means the holiday season is already a fun and relaxing time with the family, and two, it means more days of football action. As per the week 17 NFL schedule, football games will be played on almost every day of the week barring Tuesday and Friday.

While the world all over enjoys their much-deserved time off from routine office work, NFL franchises will be neck deep with the closing stages of the regular season. Teams that have sealed a playoff berth may opt to rest their starters if they can afford it, but all those teams still in the hunt for a postseason berth as well as teams fighting for the coveted number 1 spot in their respective conferences will have their work cut out in week 17.

Games on Wednesday, December 25

Believe it or not, we have two games on Christmas Day which is a Wednesday in 2024. The same four teams that played on Saturday in week 16 feature on Christmas Day as the Kansas City Chiefs visit the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first game while the Baltimore Ravens take on the Houston Texans in the second of the doubleheader on Netflix.

Since all four teams were covered in week 16, there is nothing much else to discuss here except for the fact that these teams will still be taking the games seriously unless of course their postseason fate has already been sealed.

Game on Thursday, December 26

Seattle Seahawks @ Chicago Bears

Thursday Night Football of the week 17 NFL schedule brings us the Seattle Seahawks up against the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field. This game may turn into an essential must-win for both teams if they are fighting for the playoff spots which ideally should be the scenario this deep into the regular season.

Games on Saturday, December 28

As per the NFL schedule week 17, many of the Sunday games have been shifted over to Saturday. In week 17, there will be five games on Saturday with the Denver Broncos game against the Cincinnati Bengals being one of the more compelling ones.

Denver Broncos @ Cincinnati Bengals

Depending on the position of the two teams by week 17, this game will either be a crucial one or one whose outcome doesn’t have much bearing on the teams’ fortunes for the postseason. If the Broncos are in a position to challenge for the AFC West or even earn a Wild Card berth, then expect the game to be highly competitive.

Games on Sunday, December 29

Week 17 has many divisional games that could have a major impact in the playoff race. Having said that, there are a few games that may be more important than others.

Dallas Cowboys @ Philadelphia Eagles

The Week 17 NFL schedule has a crucial game in the late afternoon window with the NFC East rivals Dallas Cowboys taking on the Philadelphia Eagles. These teams are highly touted to be fighting for the top spot in the division and both should ideally make the playoffs. However, it could take only 1 game to decide the position of the teams with seeding being very important for home game advantage.

Cleveland Browns @ Miami Dolphins

Although this is not a divisional matchup, this game has the potential to field two teams that could be in the playoffs by the time the regular season comes to an end. It will be quite interesting to see the Cleveland Browns' defense against the high-flying offense the Miami Dolphins have produced lately.

Game on Monday, December 31

Detroit Lions @ San Francisco 49ers

The frantic week 17 draws to an end with the last Monday Night Football (MNF) game that is to be played between the Detroit Lions and the San Francisco 49ers. This should be a classic game considering both these teams last met in the 2023-24 NFC Championship game in which the 49ers edged out the Lions to go to the Super Bowl.

Should both these teams be in the running for the top spot in the NFC then this will be a monumental game, and the winner of this game may snatch the all-important home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.
